이 글은 『지방행정(地方行政)』지에 수록된 이호철의 『너구리와 박주사(朴主事)』와 개작된 『공복사회(公僕社會)』의 변화 양상을 고찰한 논문이다. 기존의 논의들은 지금까지 개작 텍스트만을 대상으로 작품을 이해하는 문제를 드러내었다. 그러나 두 개의 텍스트는 서사적 표현에서뿐 아니라 체제, 구조, 주제, 작가 의식 등에서 상당한 변화가 일어나고 있다. 『너구리와 박주사』는 `공팔 예산` 처리 문제로 불거진 과내의 갈등이 박 주사의 원칙론과 정당성에 수렴되어 해소되는 양상을 보여주었다. 이러한 결말은 현재를 긍정적으로 인식하고 미래를 낙관적인 방향으로 제시하고 있다는 점에서 계몽적 구도의 형식을 보여준다. 연재본은 매체의 검열과 연동된 작가의 자기검열을 보여주는 하나의 사례라는 점에서 의미가 있다. 「공복사회」의 결말은 계몽적 도식을 탈피하여 원칙주의자의 좌절과 귀향의 과정을 제시하고 있다. 그 과정에서 반공주의의 폐해와 근대화의 문제에 대한 비판적 서술이 첨가되고 있다. 개작본은 연재 당시의 정치적 제약을 의식한 자기 검열의 문제를 해소하겠다는 작가의 의지가 보인다는 점에서 의미를 지닌다.

The aim of thesis is to compare the original text 『Neo-gu-ri ＆ Park-ju-sa』 with the adaptation 『Kong-bog-sa-hoe』 and to analyse of the influence of anti-communism which is operated on the adaptation. As the control of the anti-communism, the original text could not express the real images of S. Korea and their behaviors. Therefore Ho-Cheol`s, Lee has dissatisfaction about the original work. 2 years later after that, Lee adapted the Novel. He added two individuals to the there original work, and anti-communism and expressed the real images of S. Korea. In 『No-gu-ri ＆ Park-ju-sa』 shows how the writer`s self-control one`s attitude and thoughts. One is the point that somebody in it has changed the character. And the other is the point that some new ending appear on the revised edition. The third is the point that the attitude to a historical events. These revisions are contribute to this novel to construct its structure and the whole significance the revolution on 4·19. The revisions serves to concrete of 60`s social situation in general. So it`s not a excessive valuation that the 『Kong-bog-sa-hoe』 must be evaluated as the most important work of 1960`s.
