이 연구는 남·북 사전에 등재된 명사 동형어 표제어의 뜻풀이를 비교하여 의미 분화의 양상을 파악해 보는 데에 목적이 있다. 우선 남북의 다른 사회상이 어휘에 반영되는 모습을 살펴보기 위해 사회구조와 생활양식을 중심으로 어휘를 범주화하고 그 양상을 파악해 보았다. 달라진 뜻풀이는 ① 기본의미가 전혀 다른 것 ② 기본의미는 같고 어휘에 대한 인식이 긍정 또는 부정으로 차이가 나는 것 ③ 추가된 뜻풀이 중 기본의미의 파악이 쉬운 것 ④ 추가된 뜻풀이 중 기본의미의 파악이 어려운 것의 유형이 있음을 확인하였다. 각 유형별로 의사소통에서 오류가 나타날 수 있는 확률을 추정하고, 의사소통의 목적이 이루어질 수 있는 가능성도 살펴보고자 하였다.

In this study, defined homonymous noun entries in the South-North Korean dictionary were compared to investigate their difference in meaning, and then the aspects of such meaning division were looked into. First, the words were divided into social structure and life style to check the process of the social situation for the South-North Korea having been reflected in the words prior to figure out the difference. Changed definition of words were confirmed like ① the words, completely different from basic meaning ② the words have same basic meaning, but their awareness is different as positive or negative ③ the words with new definition added, but their basic meaning are easily apprehensible ④ the words with new definition added by which their basic meaning are inapprehensible. Those words under each paragraph were discussed focusing on the extent of error which may take place while communicating.
