이 글은 근대 계몽기 격조사의 목록과 기능을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 근대 계몽기 국어는 근대 국어의 모습을 이어 나가는 한편 현대 국어의 형성 과정을 보여주는 교량적 역할을 한다. 근대 계몽기 국어 격조사의 특징은 크게 두 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 우선 시기적 특성상 근대 국어와 현대 국어 격조사의 특성을 고루 갖추고 있다. 근대 국어에서 근대 계몽기 국어로 넘어오면서 격조사들은 소멸, 혹은 기능 전이 과정을 겪는다. 또한 새로운 격조사가 생성되기도 하는데 이러한 특성에 따라 이 시기 격조사는 다양한 이형태를 지니고 있다. 이는 근대에서 현대로 넘어가는 과도기적 혼란상을 보여주는 것으로 다양한 이형태는 현대 국어로 오면서 지금의 조사 형태로 정착되기 시작한다. 이 글에서는 특히 근대 계몽기 국어의 격조사 중 형태 및 기능 변화를 겪고 있는 조사를 중점적으로 살펴보았다. `를>로`, `에>에서`, `로>와` 등 근대계몽기 격조사의 기능 변화는 여러 격조사 체계에 걸쳐 일어났는데 근대 국어와 현대 국어와의 격조사 비교를 통해 보다 통시적인 입장에서 조사의 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이 글은 실제적인 말뭉치 자료를 통해 한국어 격조사 형태의 변천 과정을 밝히고, 근대 계몽기 한국어의 격조사 목록과 기능에 대해 개괄적으로 살펴보았다는 점에 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the list and functions of case markers during the enlightenment period. On one side, the Korean of the enlightenment period succeed to the modern Korean, however, the Korean of the enlightenment period serves as a base to show the process of forming contemporary Korean. The characteristics of case markers in the Korean of the enlightenment period could be summarized into two. First of all, as the Korean language advances from the modern Korean to the Korean of the enlightenment period, the case marker goes through processes of extinction and transitions in terms of its functions or it even transforms itself into another case marker. The case markers carry varieties of allomorph by these characteristics. This phenomena is showing a transitional interruptions as the modern period approaches the contemporary period, and as the various allomorph reaches the modern Korean it settles as the particles forms of the present day. This paper examines case markers of the Korean in the enlightenment period, and especially on the particles that is going through a transition of its forms and functions. Changes in functions of case markers in the enlightenment period, such as `를>로`, `에>에서`, `로>와` is occurred on many case marker systems, however the research has made effort to examined the changes of particles diachronically by making a comparison of the Korean in the modern period and the contemporary period. The significance of this study is that it has made an effort to discover the transitional process of the case marker forms through the actual corpus data, and also examining the lists of case markers of the Korean in the enlightenment period in general.
