냉전이 성립된 이후 전지구적으로 냉전의 외부를 탐색하는 다양한 정치적 문화적 실천이 있었다. 하지만 검열로 인해 한국의 지식인이 그것에 접속하는 것은 불가능하였다. 이 글은 최인훈과 아시아·아프리카 작가회의의 `어긋난 마주침`을 포착하고자 하였다. 일본의 작가 홋타 요시에는 아시아·아프리카 작가회의에 참석하며 아시아를 발견했다. 하지만 후기식민지 지식인 최인훈은 일본이라는 우회로를 통해 간접적으로 냉전 너머의 아시아를 상상했고, 소설 속에서도 간접화된 방식으로 아시아·아프리카 지식인의 자기인식과 실천을 형상화하였다. 나아가 그는 냉전의 극복을 위해서는 식민지 문제에 대한 역사적 성찰이 필요함을 역설하였고, 그 성찰 위에서 새로운 주체와 아시아를 상상하고자 하였다.
After the Cold War Regime was established, there were various political and cultural practices to explore the outside of the global Cold War around the world. It was unable for Korean intellectuals to access such practices because of the censorship of Korea, however. This article try to decribe `an encounter out of joint` of Choi and Afro-Asian Writers` Conference. Hotta Yoshie, an Japanese writer could participate in AA Writers` Conference, therefore, he could discover Asia. Choi, a post-colonial writers, could imagine Asia through a detour of Japanes language and write self-consciousness and practice of Afro-Asian intellectuals indirectly in his novel. He also insisted that historical examination of coloniality is needed and tried to imagine a new subject and Asia.
