본고는 중세 국어 언해서의 번역 특징을 밝히는 데 목적을 두고 있으며 『老乞大』와 『朴通事』 문헌을 중심으로 하고 있다. 중세 국어에는 동일 원문을 두 번 이상 번역한 언해서들이 많이 보이는데 『老乞大』와 『朴通事』가 그 중 하나라고 할 수 있다. 두 번 이상 번역이 된 언해서를 살펴보면 두 번째로 번역이 된 것은 逐字 直譯을 한 것이 특징이고 첫 번째로 번역이 된 언해서는 의역 등 다양한 번역 방식을 사용하여 좀 더 우리말답게 번역이 된 것이 특징이다. 그러므로 1670년경에 번역이 『老乞大諺解』와 『朴通事諺解』는 직역의 성격을 띠고 1509～1517년 최세진에 의해 번역이 된 『飜譯老乞大』와 『飜譯朴通事』는 의역, 생략언해, 첨가 언해 등 번역 방식이사용되었음을 확인할 수 있다. 본고에서는 양문헌을 일일이 대조하고 비교하여 차이 나는 점을 발췌하여 번역상의 특징을 밝혀보고자 한다. 직역이 된 『老乞大諺解』와 『朴通事諺解』를 기준으로 삼아 『飜譯老乞大』와 『飜譯朴通事』에서 의역이 된 것, 원문의 요소들이 생략된 것, 또한 원문에 없는 요소들이 첨가된 것들을 품사적 성격에 따라 나누어 살펴봄으로 그 차이를 알아내는 데 주목을 한다. 대비되는 자료는 한어 원문, 『飜譯老乞大』와『飜譯朴通事』, 『老乞大諺解』와 『朴通事諺解』 순으로 제시를 한다

This thesis is purposed in studying the translation of Korean annotation of Chinese classics in the Middle Age, and is concentrated on studying ≪Nogeoldae≫ and ≪Baktongsa≫. There are several annotation books in the Middle Age, in which one sentence is translated more than two times, ≪Nogeoldae≫ and ≪Baktongsa≫ are two of them. Looking at the annotation books translated more than two times, we can see that the second translation is interpreted literally, and the first translation is using various translation mode, such as paraphrase etc., which made it more like original Korean. Therefore, ≪Nogeoldae-Enhae≫ and ≪Baktongsa-Enhae≫ translated in 1670 are interpreted more literally, and ≪Beonnyeok-Nogeoldae≫, ≪Beonnyeok-Baktongsa≫ translated in 1509～1517, by Choi Saejin, are paraphrased, omitted or added from the original. This thesis is to compare two literature, extract the differences, and study the feat of two translations. Compare to the literature ≪Nogeoldae-Enhae≫ and ≪Baktongsa-Enhae≫ which translated literally, we will concentrate on the paraphrases, words omitted or added, by separating them in part of speech, to study the difference between two translations. The contrasting materials are the Chinese original, ≪Beonnyeok- Nogeoldae≫ and ≪Beonnyeok-Baktongsa≫, ≪Nogeoldae-Enhae≫ and ≪Baktongsa- Enhae≫, which will be presented in order.
