`고전`이란 무릇 단순한 과거[古傳]가 아닌 `영원한 현재`[古典]로서의 의의를 지녀야 하는 것이라고 한다면, 근대문학 발생 시기를 특정하고 그 앞뒤를 고전/현대문학으로 구분해왔던 관성은 조정되어야 한다고 생각된다. 더불어 고전문학 연구의 목적과 방법에도 변화가 수반되어야 할 것이다. 현재적 의미를 구하는 것이라면 물론이고 문학사를 위한 연구일지라도 그 중심은 `지금 여기` 즉 `영원한 현재`로서의 고전문학을 향하기 때문에서다. 이상의 견지에서 이 글은 미디어 변환에 입각한 문학연구 이론인 `문학미디어`를 고전문학 연구에 적용시켜보았다. 2장에서 이론의 대강을 소개하고 3장 에서 거시적 입장에서 방법론적 모색을 시도했다. 구비(구술) 텍스트에 대해서는 원형성의 보존과 현재적 양식화를, 문자 텍스트에 대해서는 미디어 번역과 미디어-테크놀로지에 의한 시청각화를 논의하였다. 이와 같은 미디어에 입각한 문학연구는 주로 현대문학 연구에 상관되는 것으로 간주돼왔지만, `영원한 현재`를 지향하는 고전문학 연구에서는 더욱 필수적이라 생각된다. 그리고 고전문학의 미디어론과 그에 정초한 재매개 전략은 무엇보다도 학교 교육(초중고)과 대중 교양에서 먼저 적용되어야 한다. 그것은 생산자와 수용자를 아우르는 `재매개 생태계`를 구축하는 대장정이지만, 한국(고전)문학의 현재화-세계화의 실효성을 담보하고 제고하는 가장 빠른 길로 판단되기 때문이다
If we say that `classical` is not just a simple past, but an `eternal present` [classical], then the inertia that has identified the period of modern literature and classifies it as classical/present literature should be adjusted. In addition, the purpose and method of classical literary studies should be changed. The reason for the study of literature is, of course, as it is about seeking the present meaning, as it focuses on classical literature as `hic et nunc(here now)` or `eternal present`. From this perspective, this paper has applied `Literature Media`, a theory of literature study based on media transformation and remediation, to classical literature study. This paper in Chapter 2, introduced the outline of theory and in Chapter 3, tried to find a methodological approach from a macro perspective. For oral texts, we discussed the revival of the field through media-technology remediation, and literary texts, translation and audiovisualization by media-technology. Until now, such views and methods have been regarded as largely related to present literary studies. However, I think that it is necessary for the study of classical literature if it is aimed at `eternal present`. And it is argued that the media transformation and remediation strategy of classical literature should be applied first of all in education (elementary, middle and high school). It is the fastest way to secure and enhance the effectiveness of current globalization of Korean (classical) literature, although it is a big step to build a `remediation ecosystem` that includes producers and accepters.
