This study investigated Kim Deok-Bang, a Korean doctor found in a collection of conversation writing of Korean Japanese medicine called 『YangDongChangHwaHuRok』. Kim Deok-Bang was captured by an armed Guwanashogen under Chosokabe who invaded Korea during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1593, brought to the city of Kochi, and settled there. His medical practice did not display great effects at first and became a target of criticism instead, but he soon became an outstanding physician of the region as his medical practice became magnified after realizing that the cause resulted from not considering natural characteristics of Japan and nature of the Japanese. Anecdotes about his medical practice became legendized and are being handed down in Dosa region where he lived in, and tools and prescriptions he used are still maintained as record. The Lord Chosokabe of Dosa who highly praised his medical practice made him an official medical personnel and always brought him along when he visited Kyoto. As a result, his medical practice became widely known in Kyoto as well, but it became the cause of becoming an unfortunate person by getting poisoned by Japanese doctors who were jealous and envious of him. There is no record that he married a Japanese woman. Thus there is no mention of his children either. In other words, there are no descendants he left behind. He did not leave descendants in Japan, but he left many successors through medical practice. First, he became the foundation of Unkaisiryu that continued academic system called Woon Hae - Kim Deok-Bang - Shokan - Kento, secondly, he passed down medical techniques to families, and thirdly, he contributed greatly to the formation of acupuncture school that continued the tradition of Kim Deok-Bang - Nagada Tokuhon - Danaka Chishin - Hara Taian by passing down medical techniques to Nagada Tokuhon, a legendary noted physician of Japan. Fourthly, as seen in 『YangDongChangHwaHuRok』, it was identified that his medical techniques have been handed down to Murakami family who told us his name for the first time. As said, he is not known in his motherland, but it is true that he is a great man who left his significant legacy in formation and development of acupuncture of Japan.
