본 연구는 자기결정성 이론을 바탕으로 청소년의 기본심리욕구와 동기적 측면으로서 심리적 반발심과 외로움의 조합에 따라 자연발생적인 하위 군집이 형성되는지를 살피고, 이러한 하위 군집 간에 학교중퇴의도에서 차이가 있는지를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 경상도 지역에 재학 중인 남녀 중·고등학생 390명을 대상으로 학교중퇴의도 척도, 기본심리욕구 척도, 심리적 반발심 척도, 그리고 외로움 척도를 사용하여 설문조사하였다. 최종적으로 349명의 자료를 분석 대상으로 하여 2단계 군집분석을 실시하였다. 군집분석 결과, 군집 1인 `욕구충족 안정형`, 군집 2인 `욕구불충족 적응형`, 군집 3인 `욕구 좌절에 반발하는 외로움형` 집단 등 총 3개의 하위집단이 형성되었다. 또한 각 집단별로 학교중퇴의도에서 차이가 있는지에 대한 검증 결과, 군집1인 `욕구충족 안정형`이 학교중퇴의도수준이 가장 낮았고, 군집 3인 `욕구 좌절에 반발하는 외로움형`이 학교중퇴의도 수준이 가장 높았다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 학교중퇴의도를 가진 청소년들에 대한 조기개입 방안에 대한 논의와 연구의 제한점 그리고 추후 연구에 대한 함의를 논의하였다.

This study examined how subordinate clusters are spontaneously formed in the association of adolescent basic psychological needs, psychological reactance and lonelines based on self-determination theory, and it investigated the differences in intention of school dropout among the subordinate clusters. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with middle and high school students enrolled in the Gyeongsang province and two-step cluster analysis was carried out for a total of 349 male and female students. As a result of the cluster analysis, 3 total subordinate groups were formed such as the group 1 of `the stable type being met with needs,` the group 2 of `the adaptive type being not met with needs` and the group 3 of `the type of experiencing loneliness with resistance against frustration.` Also, the group 1 of `the stable type being met with needs` showed the lowest intention of school dropout, and the group 3 of `the type of experiencing loneliness with resistance against frustration` showed the highest intention of school dropout in analysis of the differences among intention of school dropout in each group. Finally, the implication of these findings for early intervention and counseling strategies for adolescences with intention of school dropout, and recommendations for future study were discussed.
