본 연구는 은유를 활용한 심층인터뷰 기법인 ZMET을 통해 PDA에 대한 채택 및 저항 요인을 밝혀내는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 이용자들의 PDA에 대한 인식을 기능적, 정서적, 디자인적 측면의 세 가지 유형으로 분류할 수 있었으며, 이는 각각 비서, 강아지, 액세서리라는 개념으로 정리할 수 있다. 둘째, PDA의 채택 및 저항 요인을 대비해보면, 기능적 측면에서는 기능의 정확성에 대한 만족감과 사생활 보호 및 분실의 우려, 정서적 측면에서는 정서적 편안함 및 충족감과 기계적인 차가움 및 딱딱한 이미지, 디자인 측면에서는 개인화 가능성, 개성 표출, 휴대 가능한 크기 및 무게, 인체공학적 디자인의 유무로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구는 PDA의 부진한 확산의 원인을 기능적 측면에만 두지 않고 디자인 및 정서적 측면에서 검토했으며, 이용자의 자기 표현 및 패션 등이 새로운 기기 활용에서 중요한 요소로 부각되고 있다는 점을 확인하였다.

This study focuses on the design factors of resistance in the adaption process of PDA through the ZMET, an in-depth interview technique for metaphor. The results of the study are as follows. 1) There are three factors such as function, emotion and design in the recognition of PDA. These are summarized to concepts such as secretary, puppy and accessory. 2) There are adaption factors and resistance factors in the adaption process of PDA. Functional factors are an accuracy of information and a privacy. Emotional factors are a feeling of satisfaction and comfort. Design factors are an expression of individuality, a user-friendly interface and mobility. These results mean that design factors play a important role in the adaption process of PDA as a fashion or individuality icon. It is necessary to reflect the design factors in the development of the future information device for the promotion of adaption.
