최근 급변하는 미디어 환경은 웹 2.0을 기반으로 한 3세대 미디어 SNS의 등장으로 표현과 소통의 기회가 비약적으로 확대되었다. SNS의 커뮤니케이션은 단순한 텍스트 중심의 상호 소통을 넘어 감성적 커뮤니케이션 도구인 이모티콘의 사용이 활발해지면서 그래픽, 애니메이션, 포토 그리고 동영상에 이르기까지 이모티콘 유형은 다양해졌다. 본 연구는 다양화된 이모티콘의 디자인 분석을 위해 SNS에 대한 이론적 고찰과 애플리케이션, 모바일 메신저 유형과 대표 모바일 메신저인 카카오톡을 중심으로 연구하였다. 감성디자인으로서 감성과 아이콘의 합성어인 이모티콘에 대해 알아보고, 이모티콘 중에서도 가장 사용빈도가 높은 융합형 이모티콘을 복합요소, 무빙의 주제, 표현유형, 표현효과를 중심으로 분석하였다. 카카오톡의 융합형 이모티콘의 디자인 분석 결과 첫째, 복합요소로는 일러스트레이션과 타이포그래피가 주류와 보완요소로 이루어져있었다. 둘째 이모티콘의 임팩트 효과를 높여주는 무빙의 주제는 인물의 특정부위나 타이포그래피의 지각상으로 되어있었다. 셋째 구상·추상 등의 표현유형은 단순화된 반추상형이 많았다. 그리고 독창성과 유희성의 표현효과는 디자인에서 부분적으로 표현되었지만 비주얼 펀 요소는 찾기 어려웠다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 융합형 이모티콘의 사용자 선호도, 인지도 등의 조사를 지속하여 이모티콘의 디자인 퀄리티를 위한 연구가 계속 되어야 할 것이다.
In the recent media environment that is rapidly changing, the appearance of SNS, the third generation media, based on Web 2.0 has extended the opportunities of expression and communication. SNS communication is not just used for simple text-based mutual communication but also actively uses the emoticons and now the types of emoticons have become diversified including graphics, animations, photos, and even movies. Thereupon, to analyze the design of diversified emoticons, this study conducts theoretical consideration on SNS and chiefly examines the types of applications and mobile messengers and also the representative mobile messenger. This studies emotion as the emotional design of KakaoTalk and also the types and characteristics of emoticon, the compound of emotion and icon. And among the emoticons, the study analyzes convergence showing the highest frequency of use regarding the expression of design in the aspects of the complex elements and the themes of moving, expression types, and also the effects of expression. According to the result of analyzing the convergent design of KakaoTalk, first, complex elements mainly consist of illustrations and typography as the mainstream and complementing elements. Second, regarding the themes of moving that enhance an emoticon`s impact, most of them are the certain parts of a person or the recognizing aspects of typography. Third, the expression types for conception or abstraction are mostly the simplified semi abstract form. And the expression effects of originality or playfulness are partly expressed in design, but it is hard to find visual pun factors. Based on this study, it will be needed to continue study for the design quality of emoticon such as research on user preference or recognition on convergence emoticon.
