본 연구는 내추럴하고 소녀적인 이미지의 패션 표현뿐만 아니라 라이프스타일에 있어서도 여유롭고 자유로운 경향을 보이는 일본의 `모리 걸(Mori-Girl)` 패션에 대한 이론적 정초를 통해 모리 걸 패션 트렌드와 조형성을 밝힘으로써 모리 걸의 특성을 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 신(神)들이 사는 `숲`을 경외시하는 일본 특유의 가치관이 반영된 모리 걸 패션은 편안한 스타일을 추구하는 현대여성들의 기호에 부합하여 일본의 독특한 자연관을 현대 패션에 접목한 사례로 주목할 만하다. 먼저 기존에 연구되지 않았던 모리 걸에 대한 개념과 유래, 기원 등의 연원을 파악하고, 이를 바탕으로 모리 걸의 의상과 헤어, 메이크업, 가방과 신발, 장신구와 관련된 패션 트렌드를 순차적으로 살펴보았다. 또한 이를 기반으로 `숲`의 가치관에 나타난 모리 걸 패션의 조형적 특성을 추출하였다. 의상, 헤어, 메이크업, 가방, 신발, 장신구 등에서 모리 걸의 고유한 특질인 `숲`의 가치관에 대한 작품들을 검토하여 그 조형성을 추출한 결과, 모리 걸 패션의 조형성은 모방을 통한 독창성과 혼종성, `숲`과의 조화를 위한 자연 친화성, 귀여운 감성적 표현의 여성성을 나타내고 있음을 규명하였다. 그동안 국내에서는 일본의 모리걸 패션에 대한 연구가 이루어지지 않았고, 현대에 나타나는 패션의 특성을 그들의 가치관과 연결시켜 분석한 독창적인 연구로써 이론적 기반을 제공한다는 점에서 유의미한 연구가 될 것이며, 모리 걸 패션에 나타난 일본인들이 지니고 있는 `숲`의 가치관에 따른 새로운 조망의 조형성 분석은 모리 걸 패션의 국내인식에 대한 전환점을 모색할 수 있는 이론적 단초를 제공함으로써 관련 논의에 활기를 불러 넣을 것으로 기대된다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Mori-Girl fashion trends based on Japanese unique value, and to extract the formativeness of Mori-Girl fashion. It is worthy of attention example which is combined with modern fashion and Japan`s unique view of nature. Mori-Girl fashion reflects the value of `forest` and relaxed style in modern women. We researched the concept of the Mori-Girl and identified the origin. Based on this, we examined Mori-girl`s costume, hair, makeup, bags, shoes, and accessories related to fashion trends. Also we extracted the formativeness of Mori-Girl`s fashion based on the value of `forest`. As a result, the formativeness of Mori-Girl is the uniqueness and hybridism through the imitation, the natural affinity for harmony with `forest`, and the feminity expressed for cute emotion. It is significant and unique research for connecting the value and fashion characteristics, and it contributes to new research. This new aspect of formativeness analyzing is seeking to the turning point of perception in domestic about Mori-girl fashion and is expected to activate the theoretical discussions.
