본 연구는 융합인재교육을 위한 디자인 교육의 통합적 가치를 고찰하고 시각적 사고와 전뇌 개발을 위한 디자인 조기교육 프로그램의 방향성을 제안하였다. 디자인 교육은 이미지나 아이디어의 구체화 과정으로서 창조적 이미지 형성, 디자인 목표 달성을 위한 문제분석, 이미지 구현, 시각화에 의한 이미지의 형상화 단계까지 탐구중심의 학습이 필요하다. 이는 BBVE 활용에서 중점을 두는 문제인식, 아이디어 생성 및 확장, 아이디어 구체화 과정에서 시각적 사고 훈련을 통해 개발될 수 있다. 디자인 교육의 핵심은 통합적 사고와 시각적 사고과정을 통한 창의적 아이디어로 문제해결과정을 도출해가는 것이다. 사례조사를 통해 통합적 교육구조는 아이디어 발상, 의견 교류, 디자인 결과물 제작, 평가 및 공유과정을 통해 지적 상상력을 자극하는 전뇌적 접근이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 시각적 사고훈련을 통한 창의능력의 계발에 기여하고 학습자와의 지속적인 평가 및 피드백 과정을 통해 동기 부여와 미적가치를 교육하는 것이 매우 중요함을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 연계학문과의 통합적 내용중심의 교육, 디자인 원리를 위한 시각적 사고와 표현기법과의 연계 교육, 평가와 피드백 과정을 통한 학습자와의 상호작용을 통한 미적 가치 교육을 통해 내용중심의 수업모형개발이 요구된다.

This study is suggested the design education program for children based the brain-based visual education theory for developing children`s ability to think creatively. The multidisciplinary approach of design field involves drawing appropriately from multiple disciplines to redefine problems to reach solutions based on a new understanding of complex situations. Thus, design education for children requires a contextual understanding where the subjects are coordinated to co-support each other under a formal educational structure of how science, technology, engineering, mathematics and the broad spectrum of the arts, all relate to one another in reality. The design education program of Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum based on visual thinking and STEAM theory explains how all the divisions of education and life work together, therefore it offers a formal place in the multidisciplinary structure for the arts, social studies. Also the design based program provides the purposeful integration of the exploratory subjects. Therefore the contents of design program should be focused on the learner and his/her needs for support in finding creative sources, artistic problem identification, visually based thinking, creative problem solving and communication, personally authentic self-expression, individual growth, and global perspectives on the human condition throughout history.
