톈진시는 허베이 평원(華北平原) 북동부의 하이허(海河) 하구 부근 보하이 만(渤海灣)에 자리잡고 있다. 연안의 입지 조건과 풍부한 지하자원 및 중국 정부의 적극적인 대외 개방 정책과 경제 기술 개발 정책에 힘입어 톈진은 오늘날 눈부신 발전을 하고 있으며, 부동산 붐으로 지가가 앙등하고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 중국의 직할시로 북부의 상업경제를 이끄는 관문도시인 톈진의 도시화와 도시체계 및 도시공간구조를 고찰하는 데 있다. 톈진의 2015년도시화율은 83%로 종착단계에 접어들었고, 도시체계는 등질적인 단핵 중심지에서 이질적인 다핵의 도심과 부도심으로 변화하고 있으며, 3개의 순환 간선도로를 중심으로 뚜렷한 토지이용 패턴을 가진다. 즉, 업무와 상업중심지인 내환(內環), 산업과 주거용지의 혼합적 토지이용이 특징적인 중환(中環), 도시외곽의 산업단지와 신도시 및 폐허촌이 집적된 외환(外環)의 지대로 구성된다. 내환에 주로 입지한 업무와 상업의 중심지 기능은 중환으로 확대되면서 순환도로의 교차지에서 부도심이 형성되고 있다. 이 연구는 환황해권(環黃海圈)의 인천시나 새만금과 경쟁하며 급속히 성장할 잠재력이 큰 톈진의 도시경쟁력과 성장과정을 이해하는데 의의가 있을 것이다.
Tianjin is located in north-eastern Bohai Bay area near the mouth of Haihe of China`s Hebei plain. Its growth has been underpinned by locational condition of the coast, abundant underground resources, positive policy for openness and economic technological development, and strong policy support from central government as one of the country`s key national growth poles. Such a growth has brought about a property boom that land value has soared rapidly. The purpose of this study is to investigate the urbanization, urban systems, and urban spatial structure of Tianjin. Tianjin`s urbanization rate is approaching at the terminal stage of 83% in 2015 and urban systems have transformed from a homogeneous single core to heterogeneous multiple ones composed of a CBD and several sub-CBDs. In Tianjin, three apparently different land use patterns: concentration of business and commercial industries; mixture of industry and residence; and industrial production, have been formed with the three ring(inner ring, middle ring and outer ring) roads as border lines. The belt between the inner ring road and the middle ring road is used for a mix of residences and industry. Nowadays, some businesses and commercial service industries are moving to this area to meet the needs of the residents. This study will be useful to understand the growth process and urban competitiveness of Tianjin that has shared a competitive potential with Incheon and Saemangeum of Korea.
