이 논문은 타이완 원주민 시가 속의 에스닉(ethnic) 상상과 정체성의 문제를 분석하였다. 현재 타이완 사회 속에는 정치·경제·문화적으로 매우 다양한 현상들이 존재하고 있다. 기본적으로 중국과의 통일과 독립에 대한 문제로 갈등이 지속되고 있으며, 타이완 내부에서도 각종 에스닉(族群) 집단들의 충돌과 갈등으로 다양한 문화가 공존하고 있다. 본고는 타이완 원주민 문학 속의 대표적인 시와 시인, 즉 모나넝(monaneng), 와리쓰 눠간(walisi nuogan)등을 중심으로 연구하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 타이완 원주민이 처한 에스닉 의식과 생존현실에 대한 다양한 시적 인식을 이해할 수 있었다. 그들은 원주민으로서의 신분적 정체성을 인식하며 타이완 사회 속에서 자신들이 처한 에스닉의 갈등 문제를 주로 표현하였다. 이들의 시적 성과를 통하여 1980년대 이래의 타이완 문학의 새로운 흐름을 이해할 수 있었다. 또한 타이완 문학 속의 원주민 시문학의 의미와 특징, 그리고 위상을 이해할 수 있었다.

This article studies literary issues regarding the ethnic imagination and identity problems within native Taiwanese poetry. Modern Taiwanese society has been revealing its inherent political, economic, and cultural diversities in various types of phenomena and conflicts. Basically, the society is going through strict confrontations between the opposite political opinions supporting independence from the Continent and calling for unification. Besides, it also shows both conflicts and reconciliation of various cultures due to its complicated ethnic backgrounds. In this article, I study the most acclaimed native Taiwanese poets, Monaneng and Walisi Nuogan, Dongshuming, and their poems. Through this research, I could identify the ethnic identities of native Taiwanese and their diverse poetic consciousnesses of the challenges facing them. They were aware of their identity as `aborigines` within the society, and thus focused on expressing the ethnic conflicts they face in their daily lives. Through the investigation on their literary achievements, I were able to recognize the new flow of Taiwanese literature since 1980`s, in addition to their characteristics, meanings, and status in modern Taiwanese literature.
