본 연구에서는 중국인 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 탈동기 요인과 학습자 변인에 따른 양상을 조사하였다. 선행연구들을 바탕으로 척도를 재구성하여 총321명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 7개의 탈동기 요인 중‘학습부담’이 탈동기에 가장 크게 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났고 ‘교사요인’은 미치는 영향의 정도가 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 중국인 학습자들은 낯선 언어인 한국어 자체로 인해 학습 동기에 부정적인 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 조사됐다. 한편 선행연구들의 주장과는 달리 ‘교사요인’은 탈동기에 거의 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났는데 유창성 중심의 한국어교육의 특징 때문인 것으로 보인다. 한편 학습자 변인에 따른 탈동기 양상 중 성별에 따른 차이는 남학생이 여학생에 비해 탈동기 경향이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 숙달도에 따른 탈동기 현상은 고급 단계로 올라가면서 심화되는 것으로 나타났는데 이러한 현상은 또 다른 변인인 ‘한국 유학기간’과 높은 상관성을 보였다. 중국인 학습자에게는 학습 기간이 길고 숙달도가 높아질수록 동기 유지를 위한 관심이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과, 한국어 학습자들의 동기 향상을 위해서는 탈동기 요인 분석이 중요한 것으로 확인되었으며 본 연구의 결과는 현장교수학습의 기초 자료로 활용이 가능할 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the demotivation factors and patterns according to learners’ variables of Chinese learners of Korean. As a result of the analysis, ‘learning burden’ was the most influential factor in de motivation and ‘teacher factor’ had the lowest effect among seven demotivation factors. Chinese learners were found to be negatively influenced by Korean language itself, which is an unfamiliar foreign language. On the other hand, ‘teacher factor’ seems to have little effect on the motivation, contrary to the previous study’s arguments. This seems to be due to the characteristics of fluency-centered Korean language education. Meanwhile, the difference of gender according to learner variables showed that male students tend to be more motivated than female students. The phenomenon of demotivation according to ‘Korean fluency’ is getting more advanced as it goes up to advanced level of Korean. This phenomenon has a high correlation with another variable ‘duration of study abroad in Korea’. For Chinese learners, the longer the learning period and the higher the proficiency, the more attention is needed to maintain the motivation.
