한자어는 한국어 어휘 중 가장 많은 비중을 차지하는 어종(語種)으로 한자어에 대한 지식을 가지고 있다면 한국어 어휘를 보다 수월하게 받아들일 수 있다. 특히 학문을 목적으로 한국어를 학습하는 경우, 단계가 심화됨에 따라 한자어의 비중이 더욱 높아지므로 한자어 교육이 한국어교육에서 가지는 교육적 중요도는 매우 높다. 이에 본고는 한국어 학습자의 한자어 학습의 효율성을 높일 수 있는 방안을 고안하고자 하였는데, 그 구체적인 방법론으로 영어 어휘 교수·학습에서 자주 활용되는 어원분석학적 접근에 주목하였다. 어원분석학(Etymology)은 모든 단어의 참뜻을 정확하고 쉽게 파악할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 단어들끼리의 연관성과 동의어 및 반의어의 관계도 쉽게 파악할 수 있는 이점을 가졌다. 본고는 그러한 어원분석학적 접근이 가지는 어휘 학습의 용이성에 주목하여, 한국어교육의 범주에 존재하는 한자어를 재분류하고 이를 교육적 자료의 형태로 가공하는 방안을 제시하였다. 이른바 어원적 한자가 무엇인지 그 개념을 정립하고 이를 선정하기 위한 절차를 제안하였으며, 해당절차를 통해 최종적으로 117개의 어원으로서의 한자를 선정하였다. 이후 해당한자들이 관장하는 한자어를 정련하였고, 또한 해당 한자와 한자어들이 실제교육 현장에서 활용될 때 어떠한 형태로 가공될 수 있는지 제시하였다.

Sino-Korean Vocabulary take up many part in Korean Vocabulary. Therefore, People who have knowledge on Sino-Korean Vocabulary are easier to learn Korean. If they learn Korean for Academic purpose, they get to know the Sino-Korean Vocabulary play an important role in Korean. So the education of Sino-Korean Vocabulary will be more important for the learners of Korean language, as they deepen their studying on Korean. This paper suggests the way to increase the efficiency of learning Sino-Korean Vocabulary for people learning Korean. It focuses on analyzing the origin of a word that is used frequently when we learn English vocabularies. Etymology enables people to easily and correctly catch the true meaning of all words. It also helps people to understand the relation between words and the relation between synonyms and antonyms. This paper suggests the way to rearrange Sino-Korean Vocabulary and processes them into education data, focusing on the usefulness of analyzing the origin of words. This paper suggested a procedure to select so-called etymological Chinese character, and it actually selected 117 etymological Chinese character.
