이 연구에서는 개방형 설문과 반복적 비교분석법을 사용하여 대학생의 글쓰기 동기 요인이 갖고 있는 특성을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 초중등학생들을 대상으로 하는 논의들에 기대고 있는 대학생 글쓰기 동기 논의의 한계를 벗어나 대학생 집단이 갖고 있는 글쓰기 동기의 특성을 확인해보고자 하였다. 반복적 비교분석법을 활용하여 대학생들의 반응을 범주화한 결과 최종적으로 인정, 도전심, 모방, 상호작용, 소통, 새 필기도구, 습관, 신념, 의무감, 인터넷, 출판, 카타르시스, 컴퓨터, 효능감, 흥미 등 총 15개의 변별되는 글쓰기 동기 요인을 확인하였다. 이를 토대로 선행 연구와 관련지어 7가지 지점에 대한 논의 및 후속 연구 필요성을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of writing motivation of University students, using open questionnaires and constant comparison method. College students have a wide variety of characteristics as an author. For more effective writing education, these characteristics must be closely understood. Careful understanding of the motivational nature of undergraduates in college students can provide important information for writing education. The results of categorizing the reactions of college students using the constant comparison method are as follows: Attention, Challenge, Imitation, Interaction, Communication, New Writing Tools, Habits, Beliefs, Duty, Internet, Publishing, Catharsis, Computer, Efficacy, Interest. Based on these 15 factors, the necessity of discussion and follow - up study in relation to previous research discussed.
