오늘날 매스 미디어의 발달과 다양화 속에서 캐릭터의 활용은 더욱 많아지고 있다. 캐릭터는 소설, 영화, 애니메이션 등에서 이야기를 이끌어 나아가는 중요한 역할을 한다. 또한 캐릭터의 이미지적 특성은 관객 또는 소비자에게 이야기 또는 주제를 전달하기 위한 목적으로 만들어 진다. 이런 캐릭터의 활용도를 더욱 높이기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 본 연구는 도형 심리학 체계로 캐릭터의 형태와 이미지에 대한 디자인 담론을 더욱 다양하게 만들기 위한 연구이다. 연구의 목적은 캐릭터의 형태 이미지를 도형 심리학 체계로 분석하고 캐릭터의 성격과 디자인의 해석이 동일하게 도출되고 있는지 분석한다. 그리고 도형 심리 체계로 분석한 결과를 바탕으로 디자인 방법을 제안하는 것이다. 이를 위해 상징, 도형 심리분야의 선행 연구와 문헌을 고찰하고 캐릭터 형상에 도형 심리 이론 체계를 적용해서 기존에 제작된 캐릭터 디자인의 설정과 비교 연구 하였다.

Today, the use of characters in the development and diversification of mass media is getting more and more. Characters play an important role in leading stories in novels, films, and animations. Also, the character 's image characteristics are intended to convey the story or theme to the audience or the consumer. Efforts should be made to increase the utilization of such characters. This study is a study to make the discourse of design about character 's form and image more diverse with the figure psychology system. The purpose of this study is to analyze the morphological image of the character with the geometrical psychological system and analyze whether the character 's character and the interpretation of the design are derived equally. And suggests a design method based on the analysis results of the morphological system. To do this, we examine the precedents and literature of the symbol, figure psychology field, and compare the character shape with the setting of the existing character design by applying the figure psychology theory system.
