たかぎのかみ (高木神) の 『古事記』 における別の神名は、たかみむすひのかみ (高御産巢日神) という名前で、神代のニニギの天孫降臨に至るまで、高木神として14回登場されている。また 『日本書紀』 においても高木神の別名である高皇産靈尊として29回も取り上げられている神である。しかし、『日本書紀』 には高木神という木の神としての傳承は描かれていない。それに比べ 『古事記』 における高御産巢日神は、高天原の平定傳承から高木神(高い木の神)という別名の木の神として登場し、地上世界との連携性が描かれている。天神が天上世界から地上世界、地上世界から地下世界へ移動し疎通するためには安全な通路が必要になる。この時、地上へ降臨する天神のための神座や、移動通路になる巨木を神木であると想定すれば、高木神のモチ一フは、その神が本來持っていた天神のイメ一ジの上に、木の神のイメ一ジをオ一バ一ラップさせ、天上世界から地上世界、そして地下世界への繼續的な連携や子孫たちとの疎通を願った天神の他のイメ一ジではないかと思う。

Dakagiinokami from 『Kojiki』 is Dakamimushinokami. In the gods' time, until Ninigi descended from the sky, the god's name is written 14 times in the book. And in 『Nihonshoki』 Dakamimusuhinomikoto is written 29 times. This shows how important Dakagiinokami is as a god. In 『Kojiki』, Dakaginokami becomes Gomoksin (which literally translates to tree god) moves around three worlds-the heaven, the earth, and the underworld-to find a connection between them. Dakaginokami, a god of heaven, changed his name with a great motive to communicate with the other worlds. The communication and movement between the heaven, the earth, and the underworld of Gomoksin is a symbol of reverence and worship. Dakaginokami himself is one of the symbols of the heaven god.
