The object of the thesis is to suggest the elements that should be included in Korean-Chinese dictionary of the characters with the same form. This can be practiced through comparison and reviewing the Standard Korean Great Dictionary and the Korean Learning Dictionary for Chinese Speaker, 現代漢語詞典·中韓辭典. The dictionary is an essential tool for language learners because it is a bridge between learners and target languages showing general and individual words alike.
For the Chinese who learn Korean, Chinese characters would make them same forms with those of used in Chinese, which think that those have the same meaning. On the base of the hypothesis like this, I tried to find the examples in sentences that are used by Chinese who speak Korean. Some errors could be found in those sentences. That means we should have bilingual dictionaries to help find the differences between the two languages through contrastive linguistic approach.
The dictionaries that are used most by the Chinese who are learning Korean were compared and analysed. That would help us find the essentials for contrastive linguistic materials of Korean and Chinese. After examining mono-ligual and bi-lingual dictionaries, it can be found that they are not enough for the Chinese who are learning Korean to know the exact meaning of Korean-Chinese characters. Mono-lingual dictionaries are Standard Korean Great Dictionary and 現代漢語詞典 and bi-lingual dictionaries are 中韓辭典 and Korean Learning Dictionary for Chinsese Speakers-each are published for their own purpose.
Some requisites for a Translative Dictionary of Korean-Chinese words that have the same form will be shown by using the facts found above. This study will suggest each example of four different fields of the words that have the same form but have different meanings, focusing on meaning explanation, usage, and compilation. For examples : 'calculating', 'possiblility', 'tomorrow' and 'studying'. The contrastive material that will help scrutinize the two languages should be expanded from the basic words to entire words that have the same form.
