본 연구는 지적장애자녀를 양육하는 결혼이주여성들의 양육 경험을 심층적으로 분석하고 이를 통해 지적장애자녀 적응과정에서의 욕구와 어려움을 파악하여 지적장애자녀를 양육하고 있는 결혼이주여성들을 지원하기 위한 방안을 마련하는데 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구목적을 위해 지적장애진단을 받은 자녀를 양육하는 결혼이주여성 5명과 심층면접을 실시한 후 그 결과를 질적 사례연구방법을 통해 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 ‘결혼 : 낯선 땅, 새로운 희망’, ‘문화적 갈등 : 낯선 문화의 도전’, ‘지적장애자녀 출산 : 장애 발견과 진단’, ‘지적장애자녀 양육 : 양육스트레스’, ‘지적장애자녀 양육의 의미’의 5가지 범주의 주제로 도출되었다. 그리고 분석 결과를 토대로 지적장애자녀를 양육하는 결혼이주여성들의 안정적인 적응을 도울 수 있는 방안들이 마련되어야 함을 제언하였다.

This research was to explore the parenting experience of married migrant women who has children with intellectual disabilities. Data was collected from five married immigrant women raising children with diagnosed intellectual disabilities. The findings show that the process of marriage migrant women adjusting to their children with intellectual disabilities had the following meanings for their cultural adjustment process: First, it was a starting point for the marriage migrant women to form social relations. Second, They were adjusting to the Korean culture to meet their needs of raising children with intellectual disabilities. Third, they had to live in South Korea to raise their children with intellectual disabilities. Based on the results of the study, the policies and practical guidelines related to marriage-migrant women who raising children with intellectual disabilities were suggested.
