이 연구는 분류어휘집인 『과정일록』을 소개하고 어휘 분류체계와 표제어 및 주석을 살펴 국어사적 가치를 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 『과정일록』은 한자 표제어에 대한 간략한 풀이를 붙인 필사본 어휘집으로, 현재 오구라문고와 성균관대학교 존경각에 소장되어 있다. 오구라문고본은 2권 2책으로 본문에 사주와 계선이 있으며 한 면에 4단 10행으로 필사되어 있다. 반면 존경각본은 2권 1책 불분권으로 사주나 계선이 없이 한 면 4단 12행으로 필사되어 있다. 두 이본은 표제어의 표기나 주석에서도 차이를 보인다. 『과정일록』은 모두 30개의 부류 아래 9,000여 개의 어휘가 실려 있다. 이 가운데 한글 주석이 달린 표제어가 5,700여 항목이나 된다. 花木摠言, 禽獸摠言, 人倫人事, 理生, 仕止등 다른 분류어휘집에는 보이지 않는 분류기준이 있으며 부류순서도 천문과 지리 다음에 동식물 관련 부류가 배열된다. 『과정일록』의 표제어나 어휘를 다른 분류어휘집과 비교해 보면 동일한 표제어에 주석차이를 갖거나 주석이 동일하더라도 표제어가 차이가 나는 경우가 있다. 이러한 차이는 한자어의 사용 실태 및 한글어휘의 변화 모습을 살피는 데 매우 중요한 자료가 된다. 이런 측면에서 『과정일록』은 국어사 연구에 중요한 자료가 될 것이라고 본다.

This study, which introduced a classified wordbook Gwajeong-ilrok (課程日錄) and examined its lexical classification system as well as headwords, aimed to identify the wordbook’s value from the perspective of Korean linguistics. Gwajeong-ilrok is a manuscript, a kind of category book that includes brief explanations for each headword. It is currently available at Ogura Bunko and Jongyeonggak, Sungkyunkwan University. Gwajeong-ilrok has more than 9,000 words categorized into 30 groups and is divided into two volumes comprising 15 groups each. It contains as many as 5,773 headwords with Korean annotation. Compared with other classified wordbooks, Gwajeong-ilrok has significantly more items. In addition, Gwajeong-ilrok has its own classification system, which may help research on the structure or history of classified wordbooks. This study believes that Gwajeong-ilrok will also be important for research on the history of Korean language.
