This study investigated how behavioral problems of children from multicultural families and non-multicultural families change over time. Children’s behavioral problems were identified using K-CBCL and the data were collected twice over a time period of one year. The sample consisted of 255 children from multicultural families and 259 from non-multicultural families in the first year and then followed by 180 multicultural children and 171 non-multicultural children. The children were from varying ages and the average age of children from multicultural families and non-multicultural families were 10.22 and 10.23 respectively. For each child, both the parent ’s report form (CBCL 6-18) and teacher’s report form (TRF 6-18) were administered and the changes in children’s internalizing problems and externalizing problems were analysed through repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of internalized problem behaviors divided into parental report and teacher report by group according to time, in the parents ’ reports, children from multicultural families behaved more internalizing problems compared to those from non-multicultural families and the differences increased with age. For externalizing problems, parents reported that children from both multicultural and non-multicultural families behaved less externalizing problems as they became older but the multicultural group still behaved more externalizing problems compared to those from non-multicultural group. Teachers did not observe any significant differences between two groups nor changes over time in externalizing problems.
