이 論文은 지금까지 이루어진 韓國語 意味論 硏究를 批判的인 觀點에서 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히 의미론 ‘바깥(外部)’에서 이루어지는 논의를 어떻게 의미론 ‘안쪽(內部)’로 끌어들이냐 하는 점을 강조했다. 그동안 國語意味論 硏究의 限界는 다음 3가지로 정리할 수 있다. (1) 發見的 硏究 不足, (2) 理論 內的, 理論 間 論爭 不足, (3) 새로운 地平(代案的 方法論) 摸索 不足. 의미연구자들은 기존 관점에 대한 批判的 距離의 確保 및 새로운 觀點에 대한 간절한 追求가 부족했기 때문에, 理論없는(즉, 一般化되지 않은) 事實의 發見과 事實 없는(즉, 具體性이 결여된) 理論의 단순 適用 사이에서 徘徊하고 있는 게 아닌가 싶다. 국어의 語彙體系를 제시하기 위해서라도 언어학 內部든 外部든 경계를 짓지 말고 언어 意味의 本質에 대한 다양한 견해를 깊이 탐색해야 한다고 본다.

This study aims to examine the studies on Korean Semantics in a critical perspective and puts an emphasis on how to bring the issues discussed ‘outside’ of linguistic semantics into ‘inside’ of it. It is meaningful for us to understand how linguists progress the issues on postmodernism, the nature of language in deconstructivism, the relationship between language and thoughts, the relationship between language and humans and societies, and characters of texts, because it paves way to developing linguistics and seeking new theories. So far limitations of Korean Semantics are as follows: (1) lack of heuristic studies, (2) lack of inner arguments on a theory and that between theories, (3) lack of seeking new prospect(alternative methodology). It seems that semanticists wander between fact-finding without theories(not generalized) and applying theories without fact-finding(not concrete) because they do not attempt to criticize existing perspectives and desire new ones. It is necessary to explore various perspectives deeply without drawing boundaries between inside and outside of linguistics in order, at least, to suggest Korean vocabulary structure.
