평생학습 시대가 본격화되면서 성인 문식성 교육의 중요성이 커지고 있으나, 그동안 성인 문식성 교육과정의 방향을 어떻게 설계할 것인가에 대해서는 거의 논의가 이루어지지 못했다. 이러한 문제의식에 기반하여 이 연구에서는 15명의 국어교육학계 전문가들을 대상으로 성인 문식성 교육 방향에 대한 의견을 서면 조사하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 성인 문식성 교육 목표에 대해서는 직무 문식성을 언급한 경우가 가장 많았으며, 대인 의사소통, 가족 의사소통, 매체 문식성 등의 응답이 뒤를 이었다. 둘째, 개인 및 사회나 국가적 요구가 다르므로 성인 문식성 교육과정은 초중등 국어 교육과정과 연계되기보다는 차별화에 초점을 두어야 한다는 응답이 더 많았다. 셋째, 전문가들은 성인 문식성 교육과정을 설계할 때 직무 분야, 문식성영역, 학습자 수준을 고려할 필요가 있다는 점을 강조하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 성인 문식성 교육과정 설계에 대해 추후 논의할 점들과 앞으로의 연구 방향을 제시하였다.

Educational needs for adult literacy curriculum are gradually highlighted in the era of lifelong learning. However, it is problematic that there are few discussions of how to design the curriculum in the concrete level. Therefore, this study interviewed 15 authoritative experts in the field of Korean language education through written interview and analyzed them. There were three research results as follows. First, the most important goal of the curriculum was job literacy; the next priorities were interpersonal communication, family communication, media literacy et cetera. Second, due to the differences of personal, social, and national needs between students and adults, the curriculum should be differentiated from the elementary and secondary Korean language education curricular. Third, experts pointed out that the three dimensions (i.e., job areas, functional elements of literacy, and levels of learners) needed to be considered in designing the curriculum. Based on the results, future directions and suggestions were discussed.
