이 연구는 정보 시각화의 관점에서 상자식 구문도해 방법을 활용하여 문장 구조에 대한 문법적 정보를 시각화할 수 있는 방안을 모색한 연구이다. 이를 위해 일차적으로 문헌 검토를 통해 구문도해를 ‘문장 구조를 학습자가 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 시각화한 교육적 도구’로 정의하고, 고등학교 『독서와 문법』 6종 교과서 및 중학교 『국어』 14종 교과서에 나타난 구문도해의 양상을 분석하였다. 그 결과 현재 문법 교과서에서는 상자식 및 종합식 도해와 수형도를 활용하는 도해, 3가지 방법이 활용되고 있음을 확인하였다. 이상의 연구 결과에 따라, 여전히 구문도해의 방식이 문장 구조에 대한 정보를 제공하는 도구로서 활용되고 있다는 가정하에, 관형사절에 대한 구문도해 방안을 마련하고자 하였다. 교과서에 제시된 관형사절에 대한 예문을 모두 추출하여 이를 동격절과 관계절로 분류하고, 관계절의 생략된 문장 성분 및 어절 수를 기준으로 문장 구조 분석의 난이도를 평정하였다. 그 결과를 바탕으로 학습자의 문장 구조 분석을 지원할 수 있는 관계절에 대하여 상자식 구문도해 방안을 제시하였다.

This study aims to visualize grammatical information about sentence structures using a box-shaped syntactic diagram from the perspective of information visualization. To do this, it primarily defined the syntactic diagram as ‘an educational tool visualized for learners to easily understand sentence structures’ by a literature review, then the syntactic diagrams of six kinds of Reading and Grammar text books used at high schools and 14 kinds of Korean Language text books used at middle schools were analyzed. As a result, it was confirmed that three kinds of diagrams are currently being used in grammar textbooks and they include the box style, the bottom-up tree diagram and top-down tree diagram. Based on the results of the above studies, assuming that the syntactic diagrams are still used as a tool to provide information on sentence structures, and syntactic diagrams have been used to construct a framework, this study intended to suggest a syntactic diagrams for determiner clauses. All examples for the relevant sentences provided in the textbooks were extracted and classified into sections related to the corresponding clauses, and an analysis was performed on sentence structure difficulty levels based on the omitted sentence components and word count in the relevant clause. Based on the results, the box-style syntactic diagrams were proposed for related clauses, which can help learners analyze sentence structures.
