본 연구에서는 개념도 방법을 사용하여 대학상담센터 내담자가 인식하는 효과적인 상담자의 행동, 반응, 태도(이하 상담자 요인)가 무엇인지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 대학상담센터에서 개인 상담을 받고 있는 총 77명의 내담자로 하여금 매회기마다 도움이 된 상담자의 행동, 반응, 태도가 무엇이었는지 기록하게 하였고 이를 바탕으로 효과적 상담자 요인에 대한 63개의 핵심문장을 도출하였다. 또한 77명의 내담자 중 9명의 내담자로 하여금 도출된 핵심문장을 유사한 것끼리 분류하고 각각의 문장이 효과적인 상담에 있어 얼마나 중요한지 평정하도록 하였다. 수집한 자료를 다차원 척도법과 군집분석을 통해 분석한 결과, ‘지지와 공감적 태도’, ‘대안적 관점과 행동을 격려하는 개입’, ‘알아차림과 자기수용을 촉진하는 개입’, ‘문제와 패턴 이해를 위한 개입’ 등 4개의 군집이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 대학상담센터에서 내담자가 지각하는 효과적 상담자 요인을 살펴봄으로써 대학상담과 상담자 교육에 유용한 시사점을 제시해 줄 것으로 기대된다.

The purpose of this study was to explore clients’ perceptions of effective counselors’ factors and how these factors would be conceptualized and rated in terms of importance using concept-mapping method. A total of 77 college clients who received personal counseling were required to record the most helpful counselor’s behaviors, reactions, attitudes after each session ended. As a result, 63 main statements were extracted and then 9 clients sorted these statements into piles in terms of similarity and rated the importance of each statement for effective counseling. The results of multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis revealed four clusters (‘supportive and empathetic attitude’, ‘intervention for facilitating alternative perspective and behaviors’, ‘intervention for increasing awareness and self-acceptance’, and ‘intervention for enhancing the understanding of problem and patterns’). These results are expected to provide important implications for university counseling and counselor education.
