본 연구에서는 한국인의 독특한 심리적 특성 중 하나인 눈치와 중학생들의 학교부적응과의 관계에서 자아존중감, 대인관계가 매개역할을 하는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 D시 소재 3개의 중학교 372명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0과 AMOS 21.0을 사용하여 구조방정식의 매개효과분석을 하였다. 연구 결과, 눈치는 자아존중감과 대인관계에 유의한 영향을 미치고, 자아존중감과 대인관계는 학교부적응에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 눈치가 높아지면 자아존중감과 대인관계 수준이 높아지고, 자아존중감과 대인관계 수준이 높을수록 학교부적응 정도가 줄어드는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 학교부적응의 어려움을 가진 중학생들을 상담하는 학교상담현장에서 한국인의 독특한 심리적 기제인 눈치와 자아존중감, 대인관계의 특성을 적극적으로 활용할 필요성이 있음을 시사한다.

This study attempted to investigate whether self-esteem and interpersonal relationship play mediating roles in the relationship between nun-chi, one of the psychological characteristics of Korean people, and school maladjustment of middle school students. For this, the self-questionnaire survey was carried out on 372 middle school students in 3 different middle schools in D city. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 in order to test the mediating effect of structural equation As a result, nun-chi had a significant effect on both self-esteem and interpersonal relationship; and self-esteem and interpersonal relationship had significant effects on school maladjustment. In other words, the higher the level of nun-chi, the higher the level of self-esteem and interpersonal relationship; and the higher the level of self-esteem and interpersonal relationship, the less the degree of school maladjustment. Therefore, this study suggests that there is necessity to positively utilize the characteristics such as, nun-chi which is the unique Korean psychological mechanism, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships at school counseling sessions for the middle school students with school maladjustment.
