The purpose of this study was to develop and validate Multi-cultural Counseling Competency Scale for Korean Counselors(KMCCS). To achieve this purpose, preliminary items were developed based on previous literatures and Muti-cultural Counseling Competency model(Arredondo et al., 1996). The items were revised after two preliminary tests. The developed test was conducted for 480 counselors or graduate students majoring in counseling. Through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, 9 factors which have 5 items each were extracted. The factors are as follows: the Acceptance of Counselor’s Culture, the Knowledge of Counselor’s Culture, the Effort to Control the Influences of Counselor’s Culture, the Respect of Client’s Culture, the Knowledge of Client’s Culture, the Utilization of Multi-cultural Knowledge, the Acceptance of Multi-cultural Skills, the Knowledge of Intervention Skills of Discriminatory Elements, the Skills of Multi-cultural Counseling Intervention. For concurrent validity verification, the correlations between the KMCCS and the California Brief Multi-cultural Competence Scale (Gamst, et al., 2004), the Social Issues Advocacy Scale (Lim, 2016; Nilsson et al., 2011) and multi-cultural counseling experiences were analyzed. Reliability of the Multi-cultural Counseling Competency Scale was also acceptable. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
