이 글은 은진 송씨 송준길가 언간에 나타나는 물명(物名)을 의생활 물명, 식생활 물명, 기타 물명으로 나누어 각 물명의 의미와 형태의 변화를 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 송준길가 언간은 17～18세기 언어생활을 반영한 다양한 물명이 나타나고, 송준길가에 전하는 『酒食是儀』, 『禹飮諸方』와 같은 고조리서와 물명에 대응하는 실물인 유물 자료 등이 존재한다는 점에서 물명 연구의 중요한 자료가 될 수 있다. 특히 송준길가 언간에서는 음식명이 다양하게 나타나는데, 그 중에는 국어사 자료에서 흔히 잘 나타나지 않거나 시기적으로 가장 이른 시기의 용례로 나타나는 경우가 있다. 또 사전상의 풀이와는 다른 의미를 지니는 물명도 있고, 물명의 조어 방식을 살펴볼 수 있는 물명의 예도 있다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.

The study is a review of the meaning and form of the name of the object as it appears in the Korean letter. Song Jun-gil's Korean letters feature a variety of material names that reflect language life in the 17th and 18th centuries. Moreover, this material study is important because it contains historical materials corresponding to names of cookbooks and items, such as “酒 食 是 儀” and “禹 飮 諸 方”, which are reported to the Song Jun-gil family. In this paper, we discussed the names of clothing, diet, and other objects that are of historical value in Korean language. Especially, the Korean letters of the Song Joon-kil family show various food names and ingredients names. Some of them are often found in the literature of Korean history to be poor or as examples from the earliest periods. Some names of objects have different meanings than the ones of dictionaries, and others have examples on how to make names of objects.
