본 연구의 목적은 저소득층 표본을 비교적 많이 확보하고 있는 한국복지패널 자료를 통해 재정패널 자료를 통해 재정패널 자료를 이용하여 분석한 선행연구의 실증분석 결과를 재검증하는 것에 있다. 분석결과 근로장려세제가 점증구간에 속한 가구에는 노동시장 참여율을 높이고 근로소득을 증가시키는 작용을 한 것으로 나타났고, 평탄구간 및 점감구간에 속한 가구의 경우 부부 가구는 이론에서 예측한 대로 노동공급을 줄이는 결과를 가져왔으며 한부모 가구에서는 이러한 효과가 관찰되지 않았다. 이와 같은 본 연구의 추정결과는 재정패널 자료를 사용한 분석결과와 일치하는 것으로 나타났는데 이는 이전 선행연구의 신뢰성을 높이는 것으로 이해할 수 있다.

This study aims to reevaluate previous studies that analyzed the effect of EITC in Korea, using the National Survey of Tax and Benefit (NaSTaB) along with the Korea Welfare Panel Study (KoWePS). Empirical results show that EITC induced more labor participation in households with incomes falling in the phase-in range, whereas EITC worked differently for those with incomes in the plateau and phase-out ranges, depending on the type of family. These results are in accord with findings of previous studies. We interpret this to be an additional study that enhances the reliability of the previous studies.
