근대 계몽기(1910∼1945) 중국에 망명한 한국인들은 어려운 상황에서도 적지 않은 신문 잡지들을 발간하였다. 그 동안 중국 발간 매체에 실린 작품들에 대해 개별적 연구, 그리고 장르별, 작가별 연구에서 일부 성과가 있었지만, 단편적인 연구에 그친 경우가 대부분이다. 본 연구에서는 근대 계몽기 중국에서 발간된 매체들에 대한 현지조사와 문헌조사를 통해 새로운 자료들을 찾아냈다. 당시 중국 발간 매체에 실린 소설에는 3.1운동의 현장을 재현, 독립운동이 생생하게 묘사되었다. 3.1운동을 형상화한 「피눈물」을 비롯하여 용정의 15만원 탈취사건을 다룬 「이순화」, 그리고 독립군들의 국내 잠입 작전을 다룬 「눈 나리는 국경의 밤」, 국외 독립운동을 다룬 「독립혼」등이 그러하다. 아울러 「K대위」의 경우 독립 운동의 방향과 전술을 제시했다는 측면에서 의미가 있다. 이러한 작품들은 우리 근대 문학에서 항일문학의 자장을 넓힐 필요성을 제기한다. 시가는 가사, 동요, 시조, 창가, 자유시, 한시 등 그 형태도 다양하며, 수많은 사람들이 창작하여 작품수가 많다. 이들 시에서 독립의식과 애국심 고취, 민족의식 고양 등 계몽적 성격을 띤 시가가 많지만, 일부는 개인의 서정을 노래한 시들도 있다. 특히 『북향』에 실린 시가에서 개인 서정을 노래한 것이 많다. 수필이나 산문 가운데에도 개인 서정을 드러낸 작품들이 있다. 그리고 비평이나 희곡작품은 그 수가 적다. 그러나 논설과 사론은 엄청 많으며, 전기, 수기, 선언서 등도 많이 발표되었다. 이러한 것들도 국문학에 편입하여 본격적으로 연구해야 한다.

Even though Korean refugees in China during the modern enlightenment (1910~1945) were in difficult situation, they published numerous newspapers and magazines. Although there were some achievements in the individual studies of literary works published in print media, most of them ended up fragmentary research. In this study, I discovered new works through field research and documentary survey on media published in China during the modern age of enlightenment. In the novel published in Chinese media at that time, the scene of the independent movement and 3.1 independent movement were revived with vivid description. “Tears of blood” which described 3.1 movement, “Lee Sun Hwa” which dealt with an accident taking 150,000 won in Yong Jeong, “Snowing Night of Border” which portrayed about secrete entry operation of army for national independence, and “Soul of Independence” which talked about independent movement outside of Korea are the examples. In addition, it is meaningful in the case of “Captain K” that it presented directions and tactics of the independence movement. Poems are composed of diverse forms, including lyrics, songs, children’s songs, Sino-Korean poetry, and etc. Also, they are written by a number of people. Many of these poems have enlightening personality, such as promoting independence, patriotism, and ethnicity, but some revealed their personal emotion. There are also some essays and proses which revealed personal emotion. In addition, there are relatively few criticisms and dramas. However, there are so many editorials and articles. Also, a lot of biographies, memoirs, declarations, and etc were published. It is necessary to incorporate these works into Korean literature for serious study.
