이 글은 ‘청산리전투’를 둘러싼 어떤 특정한 기억과 망각술에 관한 것이다. 이를 위해 이 글은 이범석의 ‘청산리전투’에 관한 다시쓰기에 주목했다. ‘청산리전투’는 적어도 한국의 국가사에서 식민 종주국인 일본군을 대상으로 한 전례 없는 대승으로 인식되고 있지만, 이 ‘청산리전투’가 벌어진 현장은 갓 러시아혁명을 치룬 소비에트연방과 (半)식민지의 중국 및 식민지 조선이 맞대고 있던 접경지대였다. 제 1차 세계대전의 불안정한 정세와 맞물려 이른바 국가주권의 전일한 행사가 불가능했던 이곳에서, 개별 행위자들의 ‘북방’을 향한 꿈과 이상 및 기대와 좌절의 심상지리가 창출되고 재구성되어졌다. 이 글은 특히 해방 이후 ‘청산리전투’를 자기화한 이범석을 중심으로 그가 무엇을 선택하고 무엇을 상대적으로 누락/삭제했는지를 살피고자 했다. 그의 이 특정한 기억과 망각술은 ‘청산리전투’가 일본의 시베리아전쟁이 열어놓은 간도 출병의 연쇄 효과이자 중국과 조선의 반일(연대)투쟁의 결과물일 수 있다는 (동)아시아적 시선과 지평을 일국적으로 가두는데 효과적으로 기여했다. 이 글은 『한국의 분노: 청산리 혈전 실기』- 『혈전: 청산리 혈전 실기』- 「청산리의 항전」- 『우둥불』의 「청산리의 혈전」으로 이어지는 ‘청산리전투’에 관한 이범석의 다시쓰기가 조국애의 항(반)일을 거쳐 반공과 결부되는 양상을 다루었다. 더불어 이 과정에서 소련 행을 택한 홍범도의 또 다른 루트가 ‘청산리전투’를 통어하고 있음도 밝히고자 했다. 이 글은 ‘청산리전투’가 (동)아시아의 불확정적인 지대를 오간 개별 행위자들의 탈(脫)식민과 해방의 가능성과 좌절을 담지하고 있었음을 재론하는 한편, 그것이 지닌 역사적 의미를 현재적 맥락에서 반추하고 성찰해야 할 필요성을 4장의 결론 삼아 제시하였다.

This paper is about a particular memory and oblivion surrounding ‘the Battle of Cheongsan-ri’. As a part of this, this paper focuses on Lee Beom-seok’s rewriting of ‘the Battle of Cheongsan-ri’. Although ‘the Battle of Cheongsan-ri’ is recognized as an unprecedented victory for the Japanese Imperial Army at least in the Korean History, the place of ‘the Battle of Cheongsan-ri’ was an uncertain zone of Asia where the Soviet Union immediately after the Russian Revolution and the semi-colonies of China and Colonial Chosun bordered each other. In a place where so-called national sovereignty could not be fully exercised due to the unstable conditions of the First World War, an imaginative geography, indicating expectations and frustrations for the “north” of individual actors, was reconstructed. In particular, this paper aims to examine what Lee Beom-seok, who narrated ‘the Battle of Cheongsan-ri’ after liberation, had chosen to include in his narration and what had been excluded from it. In other words, what is important to this paper is the choice and exclusion in Lee Beom-seok’s rewriting of ‘the Battle of Cheongsan-ri’ that follows from the 『Anger of Korea (한국의 분노)』, this paper shows that Lee Beom-seok’s rewriting of ‘the Battle of Cheongsan-ri’ was linked to anti-communism through anti-Japan based on the Korean nationalism. This paper reexamines that ‘the Battle of Cheongsan-ri’ contained the possibility and frustration of the post-colonialization and liberation of the individual actors who came to the uncertain zone of Asia and the need to reflect on the historical meaning of it in the present context.
