이 연구의 목적은 미국 조지아주의 마일스톤 쓰기평가 문항을 분석하여 우리나라 대규모 쓰기 평가의 개선 방향에 시사점을 얻는 것에 있다. 이를 위해서 마일스톤 평가에서 ‘읽기와 어휘(Reading and Vocabulary)’ 영역, 그리고 ‘쓰기와 언어(Writing and Language)’ 영역에서 다루고 있는 쓰기평가 문항을 분석하였다. 그 결과 성취기준의 내용 및 행동영역(인지영역)과 문항 유형 간의 연계를 강화할 필요가 있다. 다음으로는 쓰기 영역에서 지식이나 원리에 해당하는 내용들을 설명할 수 있는 ‘쓰기’에 대한 ‘설명적 쓰기’에 해당하는 서술형 문항 구성이 도입될 필요가 있다. 평가 문항의 개선 외에도 평가의 실행 측면에서 평가 시간을 늘리고 컴퓨터 기반의 에세이 평가가 도입될 필요가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the milestone writing assessment items of the state of Georgia in the United States and obtain implications for the improvement direction of large scale writing assessment in Korea. To do this, I analyzed the writing assessment items covered in the "Reading and Vocabulary" area and the "Writing and Language" area of the Milestone assessment. As a result, it is necessary to strengthen the link between the contents of the achievement standard and the behavioral domain(cognitive domain) and the item type. Next, it is necessary to introduce a descriptive item to 'explanatory writing' about 'writing' which can explain knowledge or principle in the writing area. In addition to the improvement of assessment items, it is necessary to increase the assessment time and to introduce computer-based essay assessment.
