제품디자인은 조형성을 넘어 통합적 사고를 통한 문제해결로 변화해 왔고, 창의적 사고를 통한 문제해결 능력이 요구됨에 따라 다양한 방법론들이 등장하고 적용되어왔다. 다양한 방법론은 창의적인 아이디어를 도출할 수 있는 논리적인 방안으로 인식하고 있으나, 복잡해진 제품개발 프로세스를 대응할 수 있는 방법론의 부재로 제품개발 프로세스별 상황이 고려되지 못하는 한계점을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에 방법론의 체계적인 접근을 지원할 수 있는 방안으로 제품디자인 개발 유형 및 특성을 재분류하고 프로세스에 따라 적용 가능한 방법론을 제안하고자 한다. 그 과정으로 혁신 제품을 분석하여 제품디자인 개발 유형을 'SE', 'SEF', 'SEFT' 3가지로 분류하였다. 프리그룹핑과 동질성 분석을 통한 결과 값을 맵으로 구체화한 후 적용 패턴을 파악하였으며, 패턴을 기반으로 제품디자인 개발 유형에 따른 디자인방법론 적용 가이드라인을 플로차트로 제안하였다. 이는 혼재되어있는 디자인방법론의 사용 시기를 제품개발 프로세스별 상황에 따라 제안함으로써 창의적 사고를 통한 문제해결 능력이 요구되어질 때 도구로 활용되어지길 기대한다.

As there has been a rising demand of problem solving ability using innovative ideas on various product designs, a variety of methodologies have been appeared and applied. The study figured out limitations of insufficient considerations for different product development processes due to absence of methodologies to come up with more complex product development processes even though such various methodologies were deemed a logical way to draw innovative ideas. To this end, the study attempts to present methodologies applicable to different product development methodologies systematically from the viewpoint of a product designer. Innovative products were analyzed based on technology, function and formativeness and also classified the development types into ‘SE’, ‘SEF’ and ‘SEFT’. Free grouping and homogeneity analysis have been conducted to draw the design methodologies applicable to each type of development process. Base on the analysis results, application pattern was identified through map specification then guidelines for design methodology application was suggested according to the development types of product design.
