본 논문은 실험적인 개방형 공모전의 기획과 진행과정을 소개하고 연관된 다양한 정보를 분석하여 개방형 협력에 대한 해석적 결과를 조명하고자 한다. 기존 공모전과 달리 디자인 과정을 공유하고 과정 중에 개방형 협력을 독려했던 시도가 직접 참가자들의 적극적인 참여로 다양한 방식으로 발현되었다. 특히 공모전을 위해 개발한 개방형 온라인 플랫폼에 기록된 참가자들의 활동 정보 분석을 통해 개방형 협력이 활발히 이루어졌음을 확인할 수 있다. 참가자간 연결망 분석으로 참여의 역할과 협력의 유형을 도출할 수 있었고, 자발적 연합 프로젝트의 등장 등 예상하지 못했던 의미 있는 논의도 진행되었다. 1500건에 달하는 참가자들의 댓글 대화 분석에서 참가자들의 동기부여가 단순히 당선을 위한 경쟁보다는 상호 협력으로 배울 수 있는 공유의 가치에 있었음을 찾아 볼 수 있다. 공모전이라는 특수한 환경이지만, 이를 확장하여 도시계획의 새로운 소통 방식으로 다양한 가능성을 타진할 수 있다. 본 연구는 인터넷 기반 온라인 소통이 도시계획 건축설계 분야에서 새로운 협업의 방법론에 대한 단초를 제시한다.

This paper introduces an experimental design competition that conveys strongly evident results of open collaboration through analysis of related data of the competition. Unlike conventional design competitions, this experiment encouraged to share the interim results among participants and to collaborate with other competitors, and it turned out various meaningful open collaboration. Especially, this study highlights that the online platform successfully facilitated open collaboration through analysis of archived user activity data during the competition period. The reference network among participants illustrates diverse types and roles of collaboration. Moreover, autonomous project was constructed along with open discussion, which is beyond the expectation. The qualitative analysis over 1521 comments and social dialogues concluded that majority of participants got motivated through sharing experiences rather that exclusive competition. Despite of the hypothetical situation as a design competition, this result opens new potentials of communicative methods of urban design and architectural design. This research proposes the new discourse of collective learning process as open collaboration in these domains.
