본 연구는 2012년 누리과정이 개발·고시된 이후 유아교육연구 일각에서 논의되는 누리과정 구조 개선문제에 주목하여 교육과정 이론을 탐색적으로 적용함으로써 대안을 도출하는 것을 연구목적으로 하였다. 본 연구에서는 대안을 찾는 방안으로 교육과정 개발주의와 재개념주의의 경계에 서서 이론과 실제의 접합을 꾀하는 Schwab의 실제적 접근을 활용하였다. Schwab은 교육과정과 관련된 문제를 해결하기 위하여 이론을 실제문제에 적용하여 주요 시사점을 얻는 절충적 기예를 사용하고 있다. 그리고 이와 더불어 이론이 다루지 못한 측면까지 실제 속에서 면밀히 파악하여 문제화, 대안 마련, 숙의를 통한 해결책 결정을 이끌어내는 실제적 기예를 활용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Schwab이 말하는 절충적 기예에 한정지어 탐색적 연구를 실시하였다. 절충적 기예를 위해 적용한 구체적인 이론은 교육과정 개발 모형이자 개발 이론이라고 볼 수 있는 Wiggins & McTighe의 교육과정 역행설계모형Ⅰ·Ⅱ이며 이를 실제 누리과정에 적용하여 누리과정 구조개선이라는 문제의 해결실마리를 찾아보았다. 본 연구는 이후 이루어질 실제적 기예를 위한 연구방향을 제시하고 이론 적용 가능성을 탐색하였다는 데에 의의가 있다.
The purpose of this study is to derive alternatives to the Nuri-Curriculum, which was developed and announced in 2012 and thereafter discussed in several early childhood education researches, by focusing on the problem of improving this curriculum and by exploring other curriculum theories. In this study, we have used Schwab’s practical approach in finding the alternative as this approach connects both the theory and practice at the boundary between the curriculum development and curriculum reconceptualization. Schwab uses the arts of Eclectic to apply key theoretical implications to real problems in solving curriculum-related problems. In addition to this, he takes the arts of Practical to grasp problems that aren’t tackled by the theory in detail, and takes advantage of the arts of Practical that lead to decisive solutions through problem statement, alternatives, and deliberations. In this study, we conducted an exploratory study limited to the arts of Eclectic mentioned by Schwab. The specific theory applied for the arts of Eclectic is Wiggins & McTighe’s Curriculum Backward Design Model I and II, which are both a curriculum development model and a development theory. This was applied to the actual Nuri-Curriculum to solve the problems in structure. This study presents a direction for research for practical contribution and explores the applicability of the theory, following the original intention of the arts of Eclectic.
