본 연구는 부모들이 자녀의 행복을 위한 부모역할과 자녀의 행복에 대해 어떻게 생각하는지를 탐색해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 자녀의 행복을 위한 부모역할과 자녀의 행복에 대한 부모의 생각을 면담하여 질적 분석 하였다. 연구방법은 부모들을 심층 면담하여 Strauss와 Corbin(2001)의 근거이론접근방법을 사용하여 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 그 결과 부모들은 자녀의 행복을 위한 ‘원인조건’이 사회적 문제, 과거경험, 사회적 시선이라고 생각하였고, ‘작용/상호작용 전략’은 도전의 기회주기, 금전적 풍요상태 만들기, 가족들과의 친밀한 관계 만들기, 친구들과의 친밀한 관계 만들어주기라고 면담하였다. 또한 자녀의 행복을 위한 ‘중심현상’은 함께 놀아주기, 바른 인성 길러주기라고 부모들은 생각하였고, 부모가 생각하는 자녀의 행복에 대한 ‘결과’는 자녀가 하고 싶은 일을 주도할 때, 목표한 것을 이루며 성취할 때, 원하는 것을 소유하여 욕구가 충족될 때, 좋아하는 사람과 관계맺음을 할 때라고 하였다. 본 연구는 자녀의 행복 및 부모의 역할에 대한 이해와 방향성을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study aimed to investigate children’s happiness, and the parents' opinion about their role for their children’s happiness. For this purpose, parents were interviewed on the parental role and their thoughts for their children’s happiness to carry out qualitative analysis. The data was collected and analyzed using Strauss and Corbin (1990)’s grounded theory approach. As a result, the parents thought that the “causal conditions” for their children’s happiness were social problems, past experience and social perception. They also answered that the “action/interaction strategies” were giving opportunities for challenge, achieving financial affluence, developing close relationships with families, and enabling them to have close relationships with friends. The parents also thought that the “central phenomena” for their children’s happiness were playing together and influencing their children to develop an upright character. They also mentioned that the “results” of their children’s happiness were as follows: their children take the initiative in deciding what they want to do; fulfill their goals; acquire what they want and fulfill their desire; and their children have relationships with people whom they like. This study is significant in that it presents understanding and direction of children’s happiness and parental role.
