This paper analyzed the changes in mutual attitudes of Korean and North Korean women who need knowledge and experience for their children, and based on this, examined what new direction should be included in the North Korean defectors’ support policy. South and North Korean women who participated in the parent education program discovered 'sick selves' that were suppressed and socially and culturally controlled in the process of learning the ideal educational environment and methods for their children and have experienced explosive dynamism for understanding and realization of selves. This implies that a new direction for North Korean defectors' support policy should include the discovery and growth of such a personal consciousness. It should be done so that defectors who have ever experienced alienation and oppression from their daily lives through structure and living world can discover and recover their lives as ‘a dignified person.’
