디자인은 실용주의 학문으로 시대에 따라 변화되고, 인류 문명의 시작에서부터 지금까지 인간에게 편리함과 아름다움에 재미까지 주며 존재해 오고 있다. 그러나 고도의 산업화와 컴퓨터의 발달로 디자인은 기능 중심으로 치닫고, 근본적으로 인간을 위한 부분이 외면되어 오고 있는 현실이다. 이제는 쌍방향의 커뮤니케이션이 중요시되고, 생각이 있는 인문학적 사유가 필요한 디자인 연구에 관심을 기울이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 디자인에서 인문학의 중요성과 필로그래픽스에 관련 사례를 분석하여 철학의 시각적 표현 가능성에 대해 연구 하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 필로그래픽스는 조형의 기본요소와 기초도형 및 픽토그램으로도 표현할 수 있다. 둘째, 원대한 개념의 철학적 사고를 단순한 미니멀리즘으로 표현할 수 있다. 셋째, 필로그래픽스 표현에서 컬러는 메시지 주요 성질을 돕고 감성 전달이 가능하다. 이를 통해 시각 커뮤니케이션에서 그래픽을 통해 철학을 표현 할 수 있으며, 쌍방향의 커뮤니케이션으로 의미전달이 가능함을 도출할 수 있었다.
