이 논문은 손홍규의 다문화소설 <이슬람 정육점>에 나타난 두 개의 공감 개념을 산출하고, 공감서사가 치유서사로 전환되는 과정을 탐색하였다. 여기서 공감 자체를 윤리적으로 인식하고 있는 현대의 공감 담론의 관점을 비판적으로 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 공감을 유사성에 기초한 융합적 공감과 차이에 기초한 복합적 공감으로 구분하였다. 첫째, <이슬람 정육점>에 나타난 융합적 공감의 형태는 ‘몸된 공감’이다. 이는 인물들의 몸에 있는 흉터를 매개로 삼아 고통을 공감한다. 이를 통해 비혈연적 가족관계가 형성되고, 결핍이 치유된다. 둘째, 차이에 기초한 공감의 형태는 ‘복합적 공감’으로 나타난다. 이는 인물간의 공통성을 가지지는 않지만, 서로의 차이를 경험하면서 불분명한 방식으로 공감이 이루어진다. 복합적 공감서사는 느슨한 역사적 공동체를 형성하고, 간접적이고 모호한 치유효과를 발생시킨다. 이를 통해 공감의 서사가 치유의 서사로 전환되는 과정을 모색하고, 이주자들의 고통을 치유할 수 있는 문학적 치유 서사를 탐색할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this paper is to produce two concepts of empathy and explore the process whereby sympathetic narratives are turned into healing narratives in the multicultural novel 『Islamic butcher shop』 by Son Hong-gyu. I have criticized the contemporary discourse of empathy that considers empathy itself ethical. Through this analysis, empathy is divided into fused empathy based on similarities and complex empathy based on differences. First, the form of fused empathy is 'embodied empathy' in the 『Islamic butcher shop』 and resonates through the physical scars in the bodies of the characters. This leads to the formation of non-kinetic family relationships and the healing of the sense of deprivation. Second, the form of empathy based on difference appears as 'complex empathy'. It does not have the commonality of characters, but empathy is somehow achieved by circumstances in which characters are able to experience each other's differences. Complex sympathetic narratives form a loose historical community and indirect and ambiguous healing effects occur. Through this process, the narrative of empathy is transformed into a narrative of healing. This study was able to review a literary healing narrative that can heal the suffering of migrants.
