본 연구는 2000년부터 2015년에 이르는 동안 한국 소재부품산업의 대일본 무역적자 축소 현상이 어떠한 원인에 의해 유발되고 있는가를 정량적으로 분석하고 있다. 분석 결과, 한국의 대일본 무역적자 축소 현상은 대일본 생산기술 격차 감소와 대일본 수입의존도 하락에 기인하는 것으로 관찰되었다. 품목별로 보면, 2000년 대비 2015년 시점에서 모든 품목은 대일본 생산기술 격차 축소와 수입의존도 감소를 나타내고 있어, 국내 소재부품의 원천기술력 향상과 이에 따른 원재료의 국내 조달 비중이 상승한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 한일 간 소재부품산업의 상호 의존관계가 과거 일방향적 구조에서 쌍방향적인 의존구조로 전환되고 있음을 의미하는 것으로 해석된다. 그러나 한일 간 분업도 지수의 수준 차이는 여전히 크게 나타나, 당분간 한국의 대일본 무역적자 구조는 계속될 것으로 예상할 수 있다.

This study analyzes the cause of the trade deficit reduction in Korea-Japan parts materials industry. The analytical method was estimated by introducing the International Technological Specialization(ITS). As a result, it was observed that the reduction of trade deficit between Korea and Japan was caused by a decrease in production technology gap and a decrease in import dependence between the two countries. By item, in 2015, all items show a decrease in production technology gap and a decrease in import dependence on Japan. This can be interpreted as an increase in the proportion of domestic raw material procurement and the improvement of the source technology of Korean parts materials industry.
