본 논의는 충청지역의 판소리와 관련된 인물들과 지역을 살피고, 발굴해야 할 문화유적과 기초자료의 중요성을 강조한 글이다. 특히 충남지역의 판소리적 위상을 살피면서 현장 답사를 시행하였고, 판소리 지형도를 살펴, 시급히 조사 연구해야 할 명창과 유적에 대해 논하였다. 먼저 조선창극사에 나타난 충청지역의 명창 23명과 후대의 주요 명창, 명고 등 35명의 생애과 정보, 의의를 정리하고 충남지역이 판소리 발생기와 일제강점기에 매우 중요한 역할을 하였음을 밝혔다. 다음으로는 현지 답사를 중심으로 홍성, 서산, 서천, 공주, 논산 지역의 명창 관련 정보와 문화유적 등을 조사하여 보고하였다. 홍성에서는 판소리의 시조 최선달의 가계와 묘역이 밝혀졌으며, 김창룡의 주거지 등이 남아있음을 알 수 있었다. 한성준 관련 여러 유적도 제대로 보전되어야 할 필요성이 있다. 또한 동편제의 다른 맥을 만든 정춘풍에 대한 지역조사가 시급하다. 서산에서는 심정순 일가와 연관되어 낙원식당 등이 중요한 유적지가 될 수 있으며, 이를 활용할 필요가 있다고 보았다. 고수관 등의 유적지를 조사하였고 방만춘 일가 조사의 필요성을 제기하였다. 서천에서는 이동백과 김창룡 관련 유적지가 발굴되고 보호되어야 한다. 공주에서는 박동진 전수관의 현황을 둘러보았고, 황호통이 중요한 명창으로 활약했음을 밝혔다. 이와 함께 황해천, 김석창, 박상도, 이동백과 김창룡, 고수관 등이 활약했고 거주했던 지역으로 공주의 판소리 문화를 함께 연구할 필요성을 논했다. 논산은 중고제의 시조라 불리는 김성옥이 태어난 곳이고, 그의 생가터가 추정 발굴되고 있다. 이에 대한 관심이 필요할 것이다. 초기 판소리는 충남지역을 중심으로 위로는 경기권, 아래로는 전라권으로 뻗어나가 판소리 문화를 확산 개발시킨 중요한 역사적 사명을 감당하였다. 현재적 의미에서 중고제는 충청지역을 중심으로 발굴, 보전되어야 할 필요가 절실하며 이를 위한 기초연구가 시급히 시행되어야 한다. 흩어져 있는 중고제 관련 명창과 유적지의 정보를 최대한 모아서 충청도 판소리의 위상을 세우는 작업을 하는 일이 필요하다. 중고제 소리를 제대로 전승할 수 있는 실력있는 명창을 보호하고 육성할 필요도 있다.

This article emphasizes the importance of cultural heritages that should be developed upon reviewing persons related to Joonggoje Pansori in the Choongchung area and its basic data. It reviews, in particular, the position of Pansori in South Choongchung by dividing the territory of Pansori, and discussing the master singers and heritages that should be prioritized. First, it summarizes the information about 23 master singers in Choongchung, the history of Chosun traditional opera, and 35 masters in the late period, including their lifetime achievements and meanings, and reveals that they played a crucial role in the development period of Pansori in South Choongchung, and in the Japanese colonial period. Next, it is reported that the information and cultural heritages relate to the master singers in Hongsung, Seosan, Seochun, Gongju, and Nonsan, focusing on field visits. In Hongsung, the family history and the boundaries of Sun Dal Choi’s grave, the founder of Pansori, were found, and Chang Ryong Kim’s residence was revealed. It is necessary to conserve a variety of heritages related to Sung Jun Han. In addition, it is urgent tolocally investigate Choonpoong Jung who developed the different roots of Dongpyunje. In Seosan, the Nakwon restaurant, and so on, relate to the family of Jung Soon Shim, and could be an important historical place, which should be utilized. A historical place, such as Gosoogwan, was investigated, suggesting the needs to investigate the family of Man Choon Bang. In Seochun, the historical places related to Dong Baik Lee and Chang Ryong Kim should be developed and conserved. In Gongju, the statuses of Dong Jin Park and Soo Gwan Go were reviewed, and it was revealed that Ho Tong Hwang had been performed as an important master singer. Together with this, further studies are required on Pasori culture in Gongju, where Hae Chon Hwang, Suk Chang Kim, Sang Do Park, Dong Baik Lee, Chang Ryong Kim, and Soo Gwan Go were actively performed and lived. Nonsan is where Sung Ok Kim, a founder of Joonggoje, was born, and his place of residence is under development. Hence, attention in this is required. Joonggoje Pansori took part in the important historical mission to expand and develop Pansori culture up to the Gyunggi area, to the North, and Cholla area, to the South, in the center of South Choongchung. It is urgently required that Joonggoje Pansori is developed and conserved in the center of the Choongchung area, which requires basic research on this. It is necessary to establish the position of Choongchung Pansori by collecting the information of master singers and historical places related to Joonggoje, which are scattered around. Also, it is necessary to protect and develop the master singers who are well placed to succeed Joonggoje Pansori.
