굿은 사회적 요구에 따라 전승력을 상실하여 소멸되거나 새롭게 창출되기도 한다. 동해안 무당들은 안질의 퇴치를 위한 추남굿 또는 맹인거리를 별신굿의 심청굿으로 전환했다. 또한 심청전을 동해안 지역의 언어와 무악을 기반으로 끌어들여 굿으로 재창출했다. 무당들에게 있어서 이러한 시도는 지속적으로 진행되었다. 김석출과 이금옥의 경우 1950년대에 동해안 중남부지역에서 봉덕이타령을 서사무가로 구연하였다. 봉덕이타령은 에밀레종 전설과 관련된 것으로 성덕대왕신종을 만들 때 맑은 종소리를 내기 위해 아이를 쇳물에 넣었다는 이야기를 동해안 무당이 별신굿 또는 오구굿에서 중모리장단에 맞춰 무당이 서서 구연한 것이다. 봉덕이타령은 그 당시 대중적 취향에는 부합하였으나, 굿거리로써 주술성이 없었기 때문에 관중의 외면으로 더 이상 전승되지 못하고 사라졌다. 동해안 무당들은 추남굿의 주술성을 수용하였고, 이를 토대로 소설 심청전을 무가의 모본으로 삼아 판소리 심청가 일부를 장면에 맞게 삽입가요로 구연함으로써 심청굿을 완성했다. 또한 무당들은 심청굿을 구연하면서 관객에게 별비를 요구하는 새로운 장면들을 삽입하여 자신들의 경제적 욕구를 충족시켰다. 현재 동해안별신굿의 심청굿은 사회적 상황에 적응한 결과로 재창출된 것이다.

Gut has been disappeared by discontinuity of its transmission or changed newly depending on social needs. Shamans in Korean eastern coast had changed Chunam-gut or Maengin-geori for the care of eye disease into Simcheong-gut. In addition, they recreated Simcheong-gut, using the dialect and music of Korean eastern coast. Shamans have attempted it constantly. They sang Bongdeogi-taryeong as narrative shamanism in central and southern region of Korean eastern coast. Bongdeogi-taryeong is related to the legend of Emaile Bell; Shamans in Korean eastern coast sang the story, which a baby was put in molten metal for the clear note of a bell when Emaile Bell was being made, to Semarchi rhythm during Byeolsingut or Ogugut. At that time, Bongdeogi-taryeong satisfied popular taste, but it was disappeared by negligence of audiences because of lack of magical power. Shamans in Korean eastern coast accepted magical power of Chunam-gut. Based on it, they u sed a novel of Simcheong-jeon a s a model of shaman’s song and completed Simcheong-gut singing pansori Simcheong-ga as popular songs depending on the condition of gut. Also, shamans satisfied their economic desires as adding new performance of asking money. Simcheong-gut of present Byeolsingut in Korean east coast was recreated in consequence of adapting to social situation.
