이 연구는 서울진오기굿에서 모셔지는 신의 하나인 ‘삼성’에 성격과 의미를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 서울진오기굿에서 삼성을 대상으로 하는 연행양상을 조사하고 무가와 재담을 분석하여 무가와 재담이 지니는 의미를 분석하고 서울진오기굿에서 삼성이 갖는 의미를 파악하고자 했다. ‘삼성’에 관련된 연행은 <사재삼성거리>에서 ‘사자’에 관련된 연행 이후에 연행된다. 삼성과 관련된 무가와 재담은 <삼성만수받이>와 <삼성재담>, <삼성공수>이다. <삼성만수받이>에서 삼성은 사자와 함께 저승에서 이승으로 오는 것으로 간략하게 나타난다. <삼성재담>에서 삼성은 스스로 사자보다 더 무서운 신이며 갑작스러운 죽음을 만들어내는 신이라고 주장하지만 ‘삼성비빔밥 팔기’를 통해 삼성은 하찮게 대접받고 엄중한 신령님들을 무서워하며 오던 길로 곱게 돌아가는 존재로 구현된다. <삼성공수>에서는 삼성이 망자가 저승으로 가는 길에 생기는 여러 가지 찌꺼기들을 모두 없애주는 역할을 하고 있다. 서울진오기굿에서는 ‘갑작스러운 죽음’에 대한 공포를 <삼성재담>을 통해 극복한다고 볼 수 있다. ‘갑작스러운 죽음을 만들어내는 삼성’은 ‘사자상에 있는 음식들을 뒤섞어 만든 삼성비빔밥을 파는 존재’이고 ‘동전을 얻어가는 존재’이며 ‘신령님이 무서워서 오던 길로 곱게 돌아가는’ 존재로 구현된다. 즉, 공포의 대상인 삼성은 서울진오기굿의 삼성재담을 통해 공포스러운 존재에서 비루한 존재로 구현되고 결국에는 유족에게 아무런 해도 끼치지 못하고 ‘오던 길로 곱게’ 저승으로 돌아가게 되며 유족에게는 아무런 해도 끼치지 못하는 것으로 구현된다. 유족의 입장에서는 <삼성재담>을 통해 ‘갑작스러운 죽음’을 극복한다고 볼 수 있다. 서울진오기굿에서 망자가 가는 저승길에 시왕가망, 중디와 같은 신들은 망자를 도와주는 신이며 사자와 삼성은 저승에서 이승으로 와서 망자를 저승의 십대왕 앞으로 데려가는 신이다. 사자는 망자를 직접적으로 보호하며 저승으로 데리고 가고 삼성은 사자와 망자를 호위하는 신으로 볼 수 있다.

This study presents the Korean God ‘Samsung’ in Seouljinokwuigt. Seouljinokwuigt is a traditional shaman ritual for the dead performed in the Seoul area. Research methods are as follows. Firstly, I making a survey of the previous research for ‘Samsung.’ The survey includes published books and papers about Seouljinoguigut. Secondly, I fieldworking on Seouljinokwuigut during 2004-2008. Finally, analyzing a shaman’s song and a witty talk based on both survey and field data. It is concluded that a shaman plays ‘Samsung’ in the SajeSamsungguri(Oder of Seouljinokwuigt). SajeSamsungguri consists of a play about ‘Saja(Azrael)’ and ‘Samsung’. A playing about ‘Samsung’ is composed of Samsungmansubazi(a shaman’s song), Samsungjaedam(a witty talk), Samsungkonsu(a chant). Samsungmansubazi depicting process of ‘Saja’ and ‘Samsung’ going from the other world to the present world. In Samsungjaedam, ‘Samsung’ changed ‘a terrible being’ to ‘a trifling being’. Samsunngkonsu is chant of that ‘Samsung’ ejected an agitator from the road of dead man. ‘Samsung’ is to make new death. The reason is that ‘Samsung’ sales ‘Samsungbibimbab’. (a mixed food of ‘Saja’ to a family of dead man). ‘Samsung’ demands some coins of ‘Samsungbibimbab’ to a family of dead man. This is the play of ‘Samsungbibimbabpalki.’ The family of the dead man has a terrible being of the new death. But this is overcome by Samsungjaedam. Samsunngkonsu is a chant of that ‘Samsung’ ejecting an agitator from the road of dead man. Many Gods of Seoulginoguigut. ‘Siwangkamang’, ‘Jungdee’ helping the dead man. ‘Saja’ protecting the dead man and taking the dead man to the other world. ‘Samsung’ watching sundry evil spirits for the dead man.
