본 연구는 문학의 형성과 발전이 철학에 의해 견인되었다는 인식에서 출발한다. 판소리라는 장르의 발생과 성장을 가능하게 한 철학이 무엇인지 밝히기 위해, 대표적인 판소리 작품들에 담긴 철학적 물음들과 해답들을 고찰하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 본 논문에서 검토한 판소리 작품은 <춘향가>, <심청가>, <흥보가> 등이다. 이들은 전통사회에서 가장 널리 향유된 판소리 레퍼토리들이며, 판소리사의 초기에 형성되었을 가능성이 높다. 따라서 이 작품들에 담긴 철학을 판소리의 발생과 성장을 이끌어 낸 철학으로 간주해도 무방할 것이다. <춘향가>, <심청가>, <흥보가>는 물론 적층문학의 성격을 갖기 때문에 시대의 흐름에 따라 변화된 부분이 있지만, 그 근저에 놓인 철학은 변질되지 않고 유지되었으며, 그로 인해 이 작품들이 강한 생명력을 가질 수 있었다고 보는 것이 본 연구의 기본적인 관점이다. <춘향가>에는 인간의 존귀함과 비천함에 대한 철학적 물음과 그에 대한 해답이, <심청가>에는 인간의 불완전성에 대한 철학적 물음과 그에 대한 해답이, 그리고 <흥보가>에는 가난함과 부유함에 대한 철학적 물음과 그에 대한 해답이 담겨 있다.

The goal of this study is to consider the philosophical questions and answers, which are contained in Pansori, a traditional genre of Korean oral literature. This paper examines Chunhyangga, Simcheongga, Heungboga, the most widely performed pansori works in the traditional society. We can consider the philosophy of these three works as the philosophy which provided the foundation of pansori, because in all probability these three works were developed in the early stage of pansori history. Some contents of Chunhyangga, Simcheongga, Heungboga have changed along with the flow of time, but the philosophy, which formed their basis, is supposed to remain unchanged. Chunhyangga contains the philosophical question about being noble and being humble and the answer to it, Simcheongga contains the philosophical question about imperfection of humans and the answer to it, and Heungboga contains the philosophical question about being poor and being rich and the answer to it.
