이 논문은 구비서사문학 가운데 이야기와 본풀이에 나타난 꽃의 화소를 다룬 것이다. 꽃은 인간을 재생하는 요소로 인간의 피, 살, 숨 등을 살리는 구실을 한다. 이러한 화소를 민담인 <버들도령>에서 출발하여 본풀이인 <바리공주>와 여러 가지 다른 이야기에 전승되는 상황을 점검하였다. 그 결과 이 화소는 여러 이야기와 본풀이에 반복되어 나타나는 것이고, 인간을 살리는 상징적인 기능을 거듭 수행하였다. 화소는 시간적이고 공간적인 속성을 지니면서 끊임없이 반복된다는 점에서 원형적이라고 할 수가 있다. 이 연구는 화소 연구에 대한 기본적인 관점을 반성하게 되는 계기가 되었다. 종래의 병렬적 구조주의적 관점을 화소 연구로 전환하게 된다면 화소 연구에 대한 기본적인 관점을 반성하면서 장차 새로운 연구를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 원형 연구와 화소 연구가 서로 인접하게 되면서 연구의 차원을 드높이는데 기본적인 기능을 수행할 수 있다고 판단된다. 이 연구는 그러한 시론으로 의의가 있다.

This treatise deal with a motif of flower appeared on folktale and shamanistic in oral epic literature. Flower function to live blood, flesh, breath by elements of human revival. I checked traditional state of this motif by that started at folktale < Buddle-doryeng : Buddle-an unmarried young man >, shamanistic oral epic < Baree-gongjoo : Baree-princess > and several other folktale. As a result this motif is appeared on several folktale and shamanistic in oral epic and carried repeatedly out symbolical function of human revival. Motif can be archetypal in a point that is repeated constantly having attributes of time and space. This study became an opportunity to reflect on fundamental view point. If we change the view point of preexistence paratactic structural to the study of motif, do expected that can do new study in future with reflecting on fundamental view point on the study of motif. By archetype study become in contiguity with motif study each other, become to the conclusion that can carry out fundamental function in raising dimension of study. This study is meaningful as such an essay.
