본고는 구비설화에 구현된 파격의 상상력과 INDE세대의 상상력의 소통가능성을 타진하고 그 방법을 모색한 글이다. 이를 위해 매체 변화와 INDE세대의 이야기 체험공간을 살폈다. 그 결과 ‘공유’와 ‘나눔’의 형태로 세분화되고 확장된 이야기판과 새로운 스토리텔러의 양상을 지적했다. 필자는 설화가 지닌 개방성에 상상력을 불어넣고 다양한 시각의 재해석을 요하는 ‘틈새 스토리텔링’을 상정하고 설화의 원형적 심상과 이야기성의 활용을 시도했다. 세계적 분포설화인 <뱀신랑 설화>와 <지하국대적퇴치담>이 지닌 파격적 요소에 담긴 의미 코드를 풀고 보편성을 획득하는 이야기 코드를 넣는 작업을 예시했다. 사랑과 상생의 이야기 코드를 넣어 ‘낯섬’을 ‘익숙함’으로, ‘대결’을 ‘공존과 상생’ 구도로 전환하고 탈경계적 시각으로 자신의 문화 체험을 수용한 인디세대의 상상력에서 이야기문학의 미래와 방향을 살폈다. INDE세대의 문화적 창조력은 구비설화의 우연성과 기이함을 삶이 지닌 필연성과 보편성으로 진지하게 구현한 원동력이며, 이항대립의 단순도식의 통념을 깬 파격이었다. 또 이들의 공간 확장과 이동의 상상력은 현실과 비현실, 초현실 세계를 넘나드는 설화의 공간을 시청각적으로 재현했을 뿐만 아니라 선과 악이 소통하는 통로와 중간세계를 만들어냈다. 구비설화의 상상력이 구현한 형상과 세계는 ‘틈새 스토리텔링’과 디지털 기술에 의해 ‘공유하는 생명체’로 거듭날 수 있다고 보았다.

This thesis tries to gauge the possibilities and ways of mutual understanding between the exceptional imaginations embodied in folktales and the new imaginations of the INDE generations. For this, I study the changes in media and the story telling environments of the INDE generations. And I find the story telling environments are broken down into ‘public owned’ and ‘subdivision’ and then they are expanded into new environments and storytellers. Assuming a ‘Niche Storytelling’ that inspires new imaginations into the openness of the folktales and demands reinterpretations of the various view points, I try to utilize the archetypal images and stories of folktales. The worldwide known Search for the Lost Husband and The Dragon Slayer are illustrated to solve the codes inside the exceptional elements and converted into universal codes. By adding ‘love’ and ‘win-win’ codes, I converted the ‘strange’ into ‘familiarity’ and ‘confrontation’ into ‘coexistence and win-win’, and try to find out the future of the storytelling literature from the view point of the INDE generations who accepts their cultural experiences borderlessly. The cultural imaginations of the INDE generations are the motive powers that materialize the contingencies and fantasies of the folktales into inevitabilities and universalities. They can destroy the social common notions of simple diagram of binomial confrontation. Their imaginations of space expansions and transfer can recreate the unrealistic and surrealistic worlds of the folktales into visual and auditory worlds. And they can also create the mid-world that good and evil communicates. I think the world embodied in the folktales could born again as a ‘public owned creatures’ by means of ‘Niche Storytelling’ and digital technologies.
