이 연구는 김경주의 시에 대한 면밀한 논구의 한 방법으로, 상호텍스트적인 접근을 시도하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 그의 시를 상호텍스트적으로 탐구하는 첫 시작으로, 「폭설, 민박, 편지1」이라는 시를 아놀드 뵈클린(Arnold Böcklin)의 「죽음의 섬(Die Toteninsel)」(1886)이라는 회화와의 상호텍스트적 관계 속에서 면밀하게 분석해보았다. 그 결과, 그의 시에 전반적으로 흐르는 정서인 ‘고독’이 회화에 형상화된 ‘죽음의 섬’처럼 엄숙함을 배태하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 물 위에 떠있는 ‘섬’과 사이프러스 숲을 통해 죽음의 분위기를 시각화한 뵈클린의 회화를 김경주는 시적 화자의 내면과 행동의 묘사를 통해 보다 현실적이고 경험적인 차원으로 언어화하고 있었다. 김경주가 뵈클린의 회화를 시로 변주하는 방식을 통해, 그가 시각적 예술텍스트를 문자 예술텍스트로 형상화하는 양상을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 덧붙여 김경주의 「폭설, 민박, 편지1」과 아놀드 뵈클린의 「죽음의 섬」이 국어(문학)와 미술의 통합교육을 위한 범교과적 학습 제재로서 갖는 교육적 의의에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 이 두 텍스트를 학습 제재로 활용하였을 때, 각기 다른 교과들 간의 교과 역량과 성취 기준 면에서 유의미한 통합 매개 요소를 포괄할 수 있는 가능성을 제공하며, 통합교육의 중요한 출발점이 될 수 있다는 결론에 이를 수 있었다.
The purpose of this study was to make an intertextual approach to the poetry of Kim Kyung Ju as a way of exhaustive discussion about it. As the first step to make an intertextual inquiry into his poems, this study closely analyzed his poem titled Heavy Snow, Home Stay, and A Letter 1 in their intertextual relation with Arnold Böcklin's painting titled The Isle of The Dead (Die Toteninsel)(1886). The analysis results show that "solitude," which is the emotion that flows throughout his poem, was pregnant with solemnity, like the "Isle of The Dead" embodied in the painting. Kim linguistically depicted Böcklin's painting, which visualizes the mood of death with the floating "isle" and the cypress forest, at a more realistic and experimental level through the description of the poetic speaker's inside and action. The way that he played a variation on Böcklin's painting and turned it into a poem gave some hints at the pattern of his embodying a visual artistic text into a letter one. In addition, the study examined the educational significance of Die Toteninsel and Heavy Snow, Homestay, and A Letter 1 as a cross-curricular learning materials for the integrated education of Korean language (literature) and art. As a result, when these two texts were used as learning materials, it can be concluded that there could be a possibility of encompassing significant mediating elements of integration in terms of subject competency and achievement criteria between different subjects and they could also serve as an important starting point for integrated education.
