구비문학은 없어지지 않고 계속 생성된다. 구비문학에 대한 연구 또한 새롭게 이루어질 수 있다. 사이버 매체가 전에 볼 수 없던 형태의 구비문학이 생성되고 유통되는 것을 활성화하고 있다. 전통구비문학에 대한 일방적인 애정을 버리고, 현대구비문학의 독자적인 의의를 인정하고 성실하게 연구하는 것이 마땅하다. 오늘날의 상황에서 생성되는 구비문학의 여러 형태 가운데 미확인비행물체(UFO) 이야기가 가장 중요하다. 그것은 아주 흥미로운 역설을 지닌 전설의 한 유형이다. 인류가 지금까지 이룩한 과학기술에 대한 자만심을 깨면서, 과학기술을 우상으로 받드는 신앙을 만든다. 엄밀한 법칙을 갖추어 움직이는 과학기술의 절대적 우위를 입증한다고 하면서, 인문학에서 제공하는 다의적인 기록을 증거로 이용한다. 오늘날의 세계화가 가속화되면 대다수의 언어가 소멸하고 구비전승이 심각한 타격을 받으리라고 하는 것은 근거 없는 우려이다. 세계화의 잘못을 바로잡는 지방화가 또한 이루어져, 대단치 않은 유산을 소중하게 여긴다. 낙관적인 전망을 가지자. 구비문학의 다양한 내용과 기능을 다른 문화 현상이나 사회 변동과 관련시켜 광범위하게 연구하는 데 힘써야 한다. 연구 결과를 활용하는 새로운 강의를 계속 지어내야 한다.

Oral literature does not disappear but emerges continuously. The study on it also can be always novel. Cybernetic media promote the production and distribution of new types of oral literature. It is not desirable to have one-sided love for traditional oral literature. We have to recognize the importance of new oral literature and to study it seriously. Among various oral literatures made in contemporary situation, the most important one is UFO folklore. It is a type of legend with a very interesting paradox. Destroying the pride about the scientific achievement made by human race till now, it makes a kind of religion worshipping the idol of technology. To prove the absolute superiority of technology with exact rules, it uses as evidences the ambiguous records offered by humanities. The worry that if nowaday's globaliztion is accelerated, most of languages become extinct and the larger parts of oral traditions are damaged severely is unreliable. The globalization is counterbalanced by the regionalization, which evaluates highly minor heritages. Let us have an optimist view. We have to study widely the various contents and functions of oral literature in relation with other cultural products and social changes. New lectures popularizing the results of such study must be opened.
